Hi, I am new posting for the first time. Although during some of my darkest moments in my pill/and heroin addiction I was right here reading and gaining strength to finally face recovery for the first time. I have a question and I know someone has an answer, this forum is awesome. After over 20years of prescription pain medication addiction and 10 years of heroin addiction I decided I would give methadone maintenance a try. April 10,2014 I did it. Starting out at 50mg , going up to 70mg but felt confident that I could make it at around 61mg so I asked for decrease. Here's the problem, I relapsed about 2 1/2 weeks ago and was using about a bag a day of heroin (injection). Well I knew it was time to poop or get off the toilet. So now that I stopped using the heroin my methadone does not last all day, especially in the morning I have mild withdrawals again, nausea and running nose ect.. Is it possible that my heroin use while taking methadone messed up the dose I was stable with making me need more meth? This morning before I went to clinic with hot cold chills and sweating made me feel like cold turkey detox was taking place. Please help so I can stop guessing. I hate that the relaspe took place, because the methadone had me so clear headed and i believe this is the program that I need and want. Thanks much , hope im able to find my post ...still learning my way around the forum.
methadone hangs around in your system for quit some time it gets into the fatty tissues after 12 yrs your body is saturated with it just try and go off the withdrawal will last like 90 days from long term use I was on 6yr and it took 90 days to feel right good luck to you........Gnarly
the methadone thing, I've been on 70 mgs of methadone liquid through a treatment maintenence program for well over 12 years straight now, and it still leaves my system within the week, and more accurately it should be fully gone within 5 days. no matter how long U take it.
it stays in your system about 7 days, but the wd symptoms will last a lot longer. i have been off almost 2 months, and still get some symptoms, mostly stomach problems. i think the wd's gave me an ulcer. hopefully not you, as i have had a weak stomach all my life. problems sleeping, the runs etc. are all a part of it. methadone is the hardst to quit, so while you are on such a low dose, i would advise you to get off of it.
