A note - Methadone is not only given for the terminal.  It's given, as is any other pain med when all other options have been tried and the patient is suffering from a reduced quality of life because of it.  As I mentioned, there are way more appropriate and effective, that is the most important part, ways to treat headaches.  Headache meds would be a logical start, after diagnostic tests, proper evaluation, and classification of your headaches.  Headaches are caused by several things, depending on the headache, and could not be called a brain seizure.  Example, some headaches are caused by a vasodilation in the brain, hence the treatment of a med that has caffeine (to cause vasoconstriction) in it.

A doctor COULD give Methadone for headaches, solely because it is given for pain as well as it's secondary use of easing w/d.  More importantly, why would he.  If your doc is doing this, it would be best to not only question it, but get a new doc and certainly not take it unless you've had second opinion and tried all other options, even then, I don't get it.  Headaches are caused by specific factors.  Knowing this, as well as the many types of headaches, helps to modify treatment.  First, the type of headache you are having has to be classified.  Then, a med for the treatment of the headache would be best.  There are lots of "headache" meds, like maybe you've heard of Imitrex.  Even caffeine is used for some types of headaches.  Because methadone is highly addictive, it is unlikely and unwise for that to be at the forefront of treatment in ordinary circumstances.  Hope this helps.

hun, you don't want methadone for anything unless you are terminal.  it is the hardest to kick and it destroys your mind.  i know, been there.  took 16 days to kick it and another 20 to get more than 3 hours sleep a night.  avoid it if possible.  if you are having migraines, ask your dr. about imitrex.  it worked for me.
