methodose withdrawal cold turkey

We are into day 3 of withdrawal from methodose for my daughter who has been on 40 for 10 months. Please tell me the symptoms to watch for before taking her to hospital. She says she will be ok and she is going to beat this. I have been giving her Gatoraid this afternoon and crackers, but shenstill refuses to go to hospital. She does not have any insurance and also has a full time job and a 7 year old son. She says shed can not miss work and can not go to impatient rehab.

Your daughter wasn't on that long & she was on a minimal 'blocking' dose which is good. If you're going on day 3, you should be starting to see the worst of it. There's no need for the hospital, btw! If she's determined, she'll make it. Acute M'dose withdrawal is usually the worst between the 4th & 8th days. However, it might be easier for her. It depends on the duration of her other opiate habits before the Methadone, if any. The longer you're on opiates, the harder the kick. (One of many reasons to make sure that this kick sticks).

I encourage your daughter to create an acct. here & join the community. She probably won't be getting too much sleep & this place has pulled hundreds if not thousands through 'acute' withdrawals. There is great power in the support given & the experience shared here.

I was on Methadose for 20 yrs. & detoxed from 140 mgs. Staying on this site & the bonds I forged here, got me through it. I'm over 2 yrs. & 8 mos clean now. Sure, the physical is rough but it's doable if she wants it badly enough & gets the variety of support that she needs.

So, do you think that you might get her to the site so she can take a look-see?

Hi and welcome to the forum...well jumping off 40 is going to feel like getting hit by a truck....we always suggest single digest to detox  but we have had members jump from as high as 120mg and do fine  the withdrawal takes around 3 days to really hit hard  methadone has a 36hr 1/2 life  it also takes about 10 days to 2 weeks to get past the phyical part  Motye gave you some great advise  I detoxed off methadone but tapered   your daughter has not been on it long  nor at to high a dose if she is young  she should bounce back in a month  it was the lack of sleep and the ''energy crash'' that made it hard for me  but everyone is different   I woludent go to the E/R there is not much they can do for you there you just have to let it run it coerce....methadone withdrawals come in waves  one min your fine  then 5 min later your in hard withdrawal  it is very cyclic also  just when you think you got it beat it comes back with a vengeance  keep posting for support and let us know what symptoms are bothering her we have a lot of home cures  keep us posted  I will check back later..may God be with both of you................................Gnarly................................................

She will need to miss work for a couple of days but hoslital usually isnt necessary with methadone W/D. She will get physically sick i.e., vomiting, diarrhea, body temp changes, basic body uncomfortable,  achey, headache, etc....but some epsom salts and get her to take long hit soaks for the achey pains.....vitamins: magnesium, potassium, a good multivitamin, i also used bee pollen granuales. You can give her Motrin (as long as shes not allergic) 3 200mg for acheyness and body temp changes.
Gatorade, water, bananas, food high in protein and amino acids..i couldnt keep anything in so my husband bought me those high protein meal shakes, etc...
Dont freak out ( i understand your scared for her ) but she HAS to go through it to come out the other end. If i may ask shes detoxing cause shes ready, cause shes out, ??????
What made her decide to do this now?
