morphine

Had a bad car accident and broke leg and arm. In hosptal I was given morphine. On the mend and sent home and told to take advil.  I am really not feeling well at all and cannot ensure this.  Found ms r 15mg. This is a low does co,pared to what I was taking.  Two days into withdrawal...will this help?

How long were you on morphine in the hospital for? They usually don't keep you on morphine for more than 4-5 days, certainly not long enough to get physically addicted. Usually you will begin to feel "ichy" after being on Morphine for a couple days. Although you may feel a bit dragged out after being on morphine a day or two then and taken off, you won't have any serious withdrawal symptoms. extra strength advil or tylonol should be enough for your broken arm and leg pain, which should feel better in a week or so. Have some talc power ready and a ruler for when your cast starts to itch though!

I would not take any opiate based pain meds for that kind of pain. It simply isn't worth getting physically addicted to opiates, then having to go through withdrawals, which is way worse than a bit of short term pain from a broken arm and leg.  If they put a walking cast on,  try to stay off it for a couple weeks. If you have pins or staples, that pain will diminish within a couple weeks.  Pins plates and staples will always hurt from time to time years after. I've never had mine removed, but they will remove them if they bother you a lot.  Mine only both me when there is a change of weather, it's like having a built in barometer, LoL! You always know when a cool front and rain is coming, even if there isn't a cloud in the sky. :o)
