need info. in wds and still on norco, is it possible to have surgery while in wds?

I abused my pain med. My dosage was supposed to be 4 a day. I was never taking a straight dose. Probably the most I used in a day was 6-8. Since Sept. I have been on my 4 aday and no more. Will my cns ever adjust to the 4 aday?  I need knee surgery, but  because my anxiety is so high, I cannot sleep and feel very nervous. I am soo dang sorry I did this to myself. But has anybody on here ever had to have surgery in wd? I plan to get off the Norco as soon after surgery as I can. Thank you for any info. I feel like I'm brain damaged for good. I have to have the 4 cause of my severe knee pain. So, I'm in wds on the 4 a day. Thanks for any info from anyone that can give advice. One more thing if you did have surgery in wds, did the pain medicine cover your pain?  Sincerely,
Needing Grace

Hello Needinggrace.

This is probably the most difficult thing to face as a addict pain and surgery. Yes you can have surgery in wd yes the pain meds will cover it as they are probably going to be stronger then what they have you on I take it is is Vicodin?
Anyway as a addict it is not the pain that forces you to take more it is your addiction. Peps that are not addicted do not take more of there med If they are not being covered by it they speak to their Dr.. The first step would be to not lie to yourself and face the truth of what you are. I do not know when your surgery is but yes you will regulate to those 4 a day but they are not going to leave you on them forever Nor should you want to be as you are finding they control everything your every waking thought the urges that you have to fight all day and the numbing of your emotions the distance they put between you and loved ones as a result.. I do not know why you would be in wd for a month as this makes no sense to me but I do hope that you are wanting to get off them as soon as you can our this will be your life till you do.. Hubby had both knees replaced is on none and got off then fairly quickly! You will be amazed at how much better you will feel this is my prayer. I wish you well, lesa
