2400mg a day seems high for a daily dose from what I heard from another member in here when I started a thread asking about those who might be able to give me some feedback about this stuff..My surgeon started me on this first of last week with a daily dose of 600mg. 300mg in the morning and the same in the evening. Back to my point though, I was told that the standard way this works is you start at a low dose and you get worked up to an 1800mg daily dose as the max. Not sure if that right or wrong but I can say this. I don't like the drug, it's made me horribly dizzy, has me waking for a brief moment in the morning when I normally wake, but then the next thing I know its almost 11 in the morning and I'm groggy as heck and it takes a shower and about an hour just to get where I can think straight..This has happened the past 4 night to me so today I dropped them..It wasn't doing much in the pain department for me anyway. If it was, it wasn't enough to convince me to keep taking it..Just an ugly feeling it gives me..
I have been on Neurontin for 4-5 years and at first it made me very tired and sleeping, but now I don't feel any thing like that.
I guess the longer your on it you get tolerant to it. I am supposed to take 600 mg's four times a day, but I don't take that much.
hey girl well im taking neurontin for back pain and foot pain had 4 ops on it and still didnt work been that way for 10yrs on the back and 5 yrs on the foot ive been on oxys for 5 yrs and im done with them so now my neurontin is my pain reliever so far its workin great except for thr brain fog i get with this stuff dont go over 900mg a day or things get real weird its kinda funny you take it at night before bed and the next day the fog is there i dont know why but thats how it works for me if any of you guys got anymore coments on this stuff id like to here from you all well lesa good luck tell your hubby to hang in there and go slow with it and it may help in the long run take care and God bless Free..
Hey Free.. If you do not mind me asking what kind of nerve pain are you prescribed this for ? It will make you feel stupid and the problem is that they want you to keep increasing the doses to crazy levels.. definitely do not drink our drive on these.. Hubby tried them for 2 nights. they made him feel so stupid and after a while very clumsy ( my experience)... and if you knew gary this is not normal. I asked the Dr. why they give it for Psychiatric use and he said they did not.. this I know to be untrue for a fact.. do your research and be safe. watch the increases ok and I'm so glad to see you fighting.. so is your family it gives us all hope.. lesa
So I'm not the only one with their head in a bubble since starting neurontin. I was prescribed this for nerve pain and I'm having a heck of a time getting to the required dose. It makes me feel a little drunk all the time. (not in a good way lol) I'm on my third week and haven't gotten past 3 a day. I never felt like this when I was withdrawling from percs so my guess is that its the neurontin your feeling. Congrats on your third day. Keep it up!!!!
P.S. It made me do stupid things too. I found a frozen pizza in the kitchen cabinet and I put the wrong meds in my husbands pill box.
