My question is... Does  sub work?... And  am  I the only 1 scared to death over not going through the ritual of taking ( which was  always chewing them up) the meds 15 times a day...  By  the way.. My doc put me on subutex... Not suproxon... Is there a difference?... Thank you

It is alot easier to come off of Norco/Vicodin than it is Suboxone. Suboxone was the worst withdrawl I have ever been through.

Hi Tam - every doc treats their patients differently.  Being on subtex for a month is not going to have any different effect on your treatment than going right to sub would - the active ingredient is the same drug.

I love skiing - it was such a great season this year and an extra treat for me to be able to go out west - on business no less.  Hang in there, you are doing great!

Hi New,

Welcome to the forum.  You are in the right place.  Subutex is nearly the same as suboxone, it just does not have naloxone in it - which is a medication that will put you into immediate withdrawal if you shoot the sub.  Subutex is usually used for the first day or two until you are stable.  Don't be afraid of the sub, work with your doctor and take as directed and more importantly, get some other support like therapy or NA/AA.  I was on sub for nearly 4 years and it saved my life.  Feel free to ask me any questions, I am happy to share anything about my experience.

Best of luck on your new journey - keep posting and working on yourself.

Thank you for sharing that ... wow that HAD to be really tough... Congrats on being strong and making it ...  it does help knowing that smone has been  where I'm at and understands as well as gives a "shoulder" in this place a screen/keypad to lean on.b Tam

i have to say that when i quit for good most of my anxiety came from the thought of not having anything to fall back on. when i stopped using heroin and started the suboxone treatment i felt "foggy" for about four days. i actually might have felt better sooner if i had waited 24hrs like they tell you to do, before i started the subs. i made it 17hrs into heroin withdrawal and then felt like i was either going to go the ER or going to start the subs. now that im detoxing from the subs i have to be honest and say that it's a bit terrifying when i realize that i have nothing i can take. stay focused. you are going to get through this!

that's wonderful that you're on day 2. that's a big deal! how do you feel? i know how hard it is when you've done something ritualistically for so long.

I agree 100% on the not working until smone is ready.. ( and I'm only on day 2)...  So I worry & am having some difficulties in not doing the ritual)....But,,  I am SO ready to have a life w/out pills being the ruler of my world....Im looking at it 1 day at a time,,,I do know that there's No way I could have even gotten this far w/out the sub....  But, my hearts in it... thanks for the support pdx505

hello, i took oxy's and smoked heroin on and off for about four years. i eventually got a prescription for suboxone and it did not work for me until i was really serious about quitting. i kept relapsing over and over and it was just a huge mess. i have been taking subs and ONLY subs for a few months now. well, right now i'm on day five of suboxone detox which has been quite unpleasant to my surprise but i don't think i would have come this far without the subs. from what i understand the only difference between suboxone and subutex is that suboxone contains naloxone, an opiod-receptor antagonist. i was also very worried about not snorting or smoking every day (i wasnt a chewer) but you can beat that. the mental part of this can be so hard...just be strong. subs can definitely help if you use them correctly!!! good luck to you!

I am not positive but I think the difference between subutex and suboxone is that there is naltrxone added into subutex so it can't be injected. The naltraxone is an opiate antiantaganist which would put you into immediate w/d as soon as you tried to inject it. If you take it as prescribed there should be no problems until you want to get off of it. The w/d is pretty nasty.
