You've got a right to be mad at the pdoc, but don't try to change his mind. Just do what you know you need to do for yourself. You don't have to take the meds he rx'd. The combination of Benzo's and Opiates is harder to kick than one or the other. It's good advice to taper off the valium. Get the opiate habit out of the way first. Best wishes...you're on the right track!
PLEASE HELP Went to see my primary care Dr today. I told her everything about the norco and valium and that I lost 32 pounds since April without dieting. She was very nice , took some blood test which I should find out the results tommmrow. She said that she was glad I came foward and on the right track. Then I went to see my shrink, who was a total *******, I do not think he hardly listen, Next thing I know he wrote scipts for meds which I am not due to have them refilled in to Oct 10th. I told him I was not here for meds I was just here to get help. He told me I was not abusing the drugs Norco or valium and just stop the valium. He then had the nerve to say to see the Dr who write the meds when I was on workmans Comp which I know he will just refer me to a shrink anyway
I am so MAD at this SHRINK. I also asked him about the xanax he wrote for me 5 yrs ago 5mg 3 times daily. I told him I heard that you should not be on the for more than 9 months, He said that is not true
He did not even try to help me wean off them , he said again your not abusing them
I do not want to be on any MIND AND MOOD altery drugs
He does not care and I am afaid to wean myself off on my own.
I THOUGHT FOR SURE HE WOULD PUT ME IN REHAB TODAY I HAVE THE INSURANCE. I do not know what to do now
PLEASE HELP. By THE WAY I DI NOT TAKE THESCIPTS HE WROTE FOR MEDS
I would give it a try on your own if it were me. I was on norco for about a year when I stopped CT (I was taking up to 10 a day). I felt bad for about a week and in a month I was back to about 90% better. I just could not taper. Maybe get some help from family if needed. WD symtpoms are not dangerous usually so I would try. Drink lots of water and exercise will really help while you are tapering. If you feel you our addicted to norco and not just physically dependent, then seek some aftercare so that it does not happen again like it did with me. Hope all goes well. You can do this!!
You may want to talk to your doctor about alternative ways to help deal with your pain issues.
well if you have only taking that many so far i would try it on your own first but get support from family or something
thanks for everyones commments
I forgot to tell that when I got that the meds in Nov I refilled the Norco 4 times and when I got the valium In Jan I refilled it twice. Dr gave me 120 pills each time of both of them
I have only took one Norco since yesterday at 2pm and have took no valium
Do you think I can do this own my own or should I call the Dr when his office opens tommmrow morning? I have about 100 Norco left and about 10 valium
Ok my best advice to you is not telling your doctor if you dont have to so it wont be on your record...i was taking 15-20 pills of the same stuff and i quit cold turkey after about a year in a half of abusing them...right now i am on day 12 and i feel sooooooo much better. Also your not a very high dose so you should be able to do it...But with the valium you deffinately want to taper yourself off this stuff i heard benzos are to dangerous just to stop cold turkey. Do some research about withdrawls and educate youself on them, learn everything you can get the most advice before you do this, it will help...Keep posting keep us updated and best of luck to you!
Please talk to your doctor. I fell into the trap you are in. I hurt my back and my doctor did the same thing. Just curious but did he talk to you about this medication before you started it? My doctor did not. I am not blaming him but I do think doctors need to take some responsibility when prescribing large doses of narcotics. I mean they know their patients will become atleast dependent on it if not possible addicted to it. Try to nip this in the bud before it gets out of hand further. I had to have back surgery. Is there non-medication alteratives to help with your back? Hopefully, you and your doctor can come up with a plan to taper off. Best wishes
Talk to your doctor have him work out a taper plan with out you/The valuim HAS TO BE
tapered very solwy .so i would discuss this with them.
Hello and congratulations on your desire to get your life back. These meds do change us and others notice it way more than we do. Can you talk to your doctor about this? You have more of a dependency than an addiction. An addict could never hold onto 120 Norco's and stay at 4 a day. Unfortunatly even with a dependency comes withdrawal. Your doctor can give you a taper plan that will help. You should be able to taper yourself as you are able to hold onto the pills. If that changes have someone else hold them. Lots of luck to you. You can do this. Corey
The norco you can absolutely taper down. The valium can be the tricky one. I would suggest that you talk to your doc about it. Its time to get honest with the doc and the spouse if you have one. However you really arent on a hi dose with either one so I think you will be able to manage. Taper the norco by using it 3x a day rather than 4x. Do it for a week and then cut the norco in half and do 1/2 pill 4x a day and after a week cut it to 3x a day, then 2 times a day. At that point its time to jump off. I cant recommend anything about the valium as I have no knowledge on it other than it can be tough. You didnt mention how many times a day you use the valium.
Well of course you feel more calm and relaxed when you are taking a pile of tranq's and narcotics! Thats a no brainer. You should speak with the prescribing Doctor......and its time to speak to him if others are noticing that you have changed since taking the pills. There are many other ways to deal with back pain.......You need your life back.........
