off label use of ultram of opiate w/d

off label use of ultram of opiate w/d

I have been tapering of oxycodone after broken shoulder, for 3 months.  I got down to 45 mg/day.  now with significant w/d sx. Ultram takes them away completely. However, no plans to continue or switch one for another...how many days or weeks is typical to get through withdrawal period? Also what is this thomas recipe and neurontin/vitamin concoction and how long do you take it?

Welcome,

Yes ultram will take away all wd symptoms completely but they will return with a vengeance once you stop them.

Your use is only for 3 months???  If that is the case, you should not expect wd to last more than a handful of days before things return to normal.  Also, your dose is not too high.  Both of these things are working in your favor.

Goodluck and Godspeed,

bob

Just a suggestion: With your dose down to 45mgs. why don't you jump from there? Get it over with as you're already having withdrawals with the tapering. It can be torture!!

The Tramadol/Ultram is not a good choice at all. It's a synthetic opiate with the added
bump of an SSRI for depression. People have a hard time getting off of it and it needs to be tapered because of the SSRI component.

I think the Thomas Recipe is a great adjuvant. I still take all the vitamins with extra Vit C.

Good luck~

I'd definitely watch the ultram.  It's worse to WD from that what you are on now.  I have done both.  Trust me....ultram is, hands down, the worst!

The WDs will last about a week from your last pill, getting better after about day 3 or 4.  That is just the hard, physical part.  You will have some form of WDs for a month or so.  By that I mean low energy, insomnia here and there, some irritability etc etc....

Vitamins are a great idea.  I never took neurontin more than a week.  It has it's own set of issues.  I'd steer clear of that one, long term at least.   No high with it but people have problems stopping it, so I was scared of it.   Anyway, I still take the vitamins.  They do help in the long term and so does exercise when you can.

Good luck!!!
