one more day and a new journey begins

Tommorow is my last day of using Vics i have quit before but made the mistake of using ultram to do so. I ended up hooked and almost a year later my supply ran out and that was hell. After a while i thought i could take a few here and their and be ok. Ha! For the last few months i went from taking them here and their to 2 every day and im now up to 6.a day. I want off this merry go round. I have been reading this forum everyday and have learned so much. I now no the things to do differently. I cant take them here or there it dont work that way and i need  aftercars . The mental part im most scared of i feel like i cant get going without a Vic and im so depressed. I have started taking zoloft about a month ago so maybe that will help with the depression this time. I went out and bought the stuff in the thomas recipe, so im prepared! I do not want to be a slave to these pills any more. I will be looking to you guys for support in the coming days so thanks in advance.........Nessa

No worries... I didn't know what it stood for when I first started to post here on the forums. PCP stands for primary care physician.

Has the PCP you're seeing now [even if just for the past month now] prescribed any of the pills to you at all? I think it would be best to come clean to her about everything that you possibly can. They'll see/know you're looking for assistance with all of this if you're 100% honest and up front with them. If you haven't had a PCP in years until her in the past 30 days... Then they're going to know off the bat that you've bought them off the streets. My best words of advice to you right now, would to be to just tell her everything, so this way she can help you in the right ways.

Ok this is gonna sound silly but whats a PCP, lol. If you mean Dr then yes im coming clean with her at my appointment tommorow. Ive only been seeing her for a month because i havent had insurance in years. I started seeeing her a month ago, I cant get in trouble can i because ive been buying illegally? Hmm i didnt think about that! I guess we will see soon. I cant wait to have life knock on my door again, and dont feel bad cause your only on late a few times a week. Since i wont be sleeeping for awhile you can help me when your on. So what is a PCP?

Good for you sweetheart! You're going to be JUST fine, I know it!

:]]

Trust me, nothing bad will happen to you in coming off the pills CT! I was able to do it, and here I am over two months sober from the pills. I hate that I haven't been on except for a few days a week when I have the chance to do so late at nights, but once you're able to get off the pills and detox from everything, it's like life knocks on your door day in and day out, reminding you that it's still here waiting on ya, you know?

Are you going to tell your PCP that you're going to be doing this, or does he/she not know what all is going right now?

If you know you want to do it, then why not start now? Allowing yourself one more day to use is only going to set things back.. Please don't take offense to anything I'm saying, just know that I'm proud of you putting your foot down on the pills; But also know that I've been there where you are before as well. Telling myself that I am going to allow myself one more day to use the pills before I stopped, etc. I was only fooling myself.

I'm over two months sober now, and I wish you the best of luck. This can be done, and a lot of us here on the forums are living proof of that.

Thx so much for the support and jimmy I have 4 days off from work starting Thursday so tommorow is my last day of using. I stay with my mom right now and she knows whats going on and is supportive.. I thank God for her. I know there are people who go it alone and it makes it that much harder. I also have a friend from work who is in AA for drinking and pills. She has been clean for 5 years, so im thinking of joining her for a meeting to check it out. And of course i will be using all of you to lean on thanks again so much!  Nessa

you can do it, yo already know whats ahead of you and you are willing to try so i think you will be ok. You know what you need to do to be prepared and you also have had alot of time to think on what you must do to make things differant this time. I would be a little worried about asking for benzos even if you never  had a problem with them, you dont have a problem till you have it, then its to late, so just be carefull with them! I hope to see you posting on here often so I can know how things go with you. Good luck

Congratulations for wanting your life back ! I know all about that . This is a great place for support and support is what you will get from all of us . Do you have a few days to stay home ? Does anyone know your problem to help you ? And the Benzos is a good idea but use them only when you need them or you could find yourself with another problem . I am on day 18 and this is my second go round . I never had a heavy habit , just three 10/500 a day but abuse is abuse and I now know this well !  You can do this and have your life back in no time at all . Good luck and we are here .  Jimmy

Being prepared i think is what will save me this time. When i tried before 2 years back i wasnt prepared and got hooked on something else, and eventually ended back at my DOC. I am glad im am quitting now i dont want it to progress to 10 or 15 or more a day wich is the only way addiction leads.  As for the withdrawls im gonna look at it as a war to win back my mind body and soul, Oh yeah and money lol! I will keep posting and we can help each other thru this....Thx for your kindness, Nessa

Well, then off you go!  I am new here but am in the same boat.  Today is a little over a week clean for me.  Oxycodone was my drug of choice and I too am on zoloft (50mg/day.)  I will be here for you as you start this journey.

Though all detox is hell and everyone is different, I have a feeling that you are going to be fine.  You can expect a pretty good amount of discomfort and irritation; but, for what it's worth, you are approaching this the correct way and setting yourself up for success.  It is also probably worth noting that you did not allow yourself to progress to ultra-high dosages and that should make the detox on the less-severe end.  Try not to picture this crazy-terrible experience, but rather go with it as it comes.  You may just surprise yourself.

I don't mean to minimize the sufferings you will have to endure, you just seem better prepared than I was and it looks like I might just make it.

Keep posting!  You got this.

You've got the right attitude it's just gonna be the endurance part...Aftercare is something you need to think about too.... and/or some sort of support system in place.

You said you got the Thomas Receipe stuff... that's good... I did a modified Thomas without the use of the Valum or Immodium and I hafta say that it did help... Also, I would recommend that you drink alot of water and when you can muster up the energy, try to get a little exercise in there... walking is good...

Hang in there and keep posting because we've all been there and done this!
