online NA?

Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the online NA meeting.....I'd really like to start attending them, but I'm a little wary of online stuff (yes, I realize the irony being that this is an online forum.....but it took me a long time to post here too).  I just tried my first real in person NA meeting and it really wasn't right for me.   I was the only woman there and about 30 yrs younger than everyone.  I don't want to sound dumb but I just didn't feel llke I could connect with anyone there....I was actually weirded out the whole time by some old guy who was being creepy and then proceded to ask me if I had a boyfriend at the end!  I'm disappointed- I might try going to one at another time and seeing if the crowd is different.

Down to 1/2 a tram pill....not feeling any w/d now....actually starting to feel kinda good.  Going to zero this weekend!  Wish me luck!

I would say try it and see how you feel. I had a hard time finding a local meeting that I was comfortable with. It seemed like a meat market more that a support meeting. I hope you are able to find something that you are comfortable with. Good luck. Lynn

I enede up at a ladies AA group that worked for me...felt the same way as u at NA... a bit heavy duty for my habit...not than i am better cos i know i am not..just different...ther e is a great site for online meetings..if u need help finding it let me know..AA welcomes addicts as a rule as most are cross addicted anyway

Narcotics Anonymous are as different as the addicts who attend them. No not everyone has your best interest at heart.And you may be younger than most, thats ok too.What can I say... I'm bias I have spent 23 years in recovery of Narcotics Anonymous.All women group did't work for me because I don't live in an all woman world.Some Good ...and fairly well protected are what they call Hospitals and Institutions,these meetings are held in out patient groups or any local mentel health.Committ yourself to at least 6 meetings before you decideDod luck Freebird227

I am from the deep south and i tried 10 or more mixed meetings with NA..then i tried the ladies group of  NA/better as i did not feel like i was on display.....it was a bit hard to say anything as there were a "group" who ran the meeting and everyone else just sat there..in the mixed group i felt like i was being sized up for sex..sorry but that is how i felt..many fresh out of prison and mostly IV drug abuse....out of my scope being a pill popper... .i found an aa meeting near my home..it was a ladies group 2...more like me..nurses and professionals...no one had been in prison /much/anyway...and again/not that i am any better but i can understand them when they talk and there is no cursing
