opioid addiction

I have been on prescribed oxycontin for 3 years. Before that it was prescribed methadone and loratab. I also have prscribed morphine. I have been taking half for two days and taking whatever is necessary to sleep. My question is can i be withdrawing from the oc's while taking morphine?

Oxycontin and morphine would have the same withdraw effects, so if you are lowering the sum of your normal dose of either you will experience some withdraw symptoms. It is what people go through when they taper their dose to detox.....not full blown wds but slowly cutting down. After 4-5 days your system will get used to the lower dose. Why are you taking so much pain meds? Opiates quit working on chronic pain after some time. That is probably why your doc is switching you from one to the other. Have you ever tried a pain clinic for alternative methods? Whatever your story is, I wish the best for you. If I can help you further in anyway let me know. God bless, Corey
