heating pads and OTC.  Try this:
you CAN alternate between tylenol and ibuprofen for a bad fever. staggar the doses according to how long they last. for example, if the medicines last 4 hours each, take tylenol at 4pm, ibuprofen at 6pm, then tylenol again at 8. you MUST watch the dosages on the label and how often to take them, I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!. ALSO, you cannot take more than 3000mg of tylenol (also called acetaminophen) in one 24hr period. it's toxic to your liver. (remember one tylenol is 500mg, that adds up quickly)
some medications say every 4 to 6 hours, if you're staggaring doses, take them every 6 hours. always make sure there's at least two hours between tylenol and ibuprofen.

Same thing happened to me,,,my cycle when I detoxed lasted 12days and I too had intense pain all around down there. What worked best for me was motrin 800mg every 4-6hours and heat. Id lay in bed with pillows under my knees and the heating pad on my belly. It even would hurt when I tried to urinate. I think this is all caused from the stress of detox and after the first month it was all back to normal. Hope you feel better soon ;) ~Bkitty

Hey, I know EXACTLY how u feel right now! My first period after detoxing was like death! I was so used to having so many opiates in me, I forgot was cramps felt like! Aleve works good for me and I'm on the birth control pill Ortho tricylen-Lo, which, I dunno if u want birth control or not, but it helps me a bit with the cramps. Also...invest in a heating pad! You will NOT regret it! Drink water too...soda can make cramps more intense.

Yes the heating pad is a great idea and it will help. And as long as you limit the tylenol you're okay so take it with the ibuprofen if you need to.  But honestly I don't think you'll need more than 2 Advils or Motrins to help with this pain.  Typically ibuprofen works better for mentstrual pain/cramps than anything else OTC.

And I've never heard that about Aleve helping with RLS but I suppose anything's possible.  Bananas worked best for me for the RLS - I'd have one shortly before bedtime, take a hot, and I mean SUPER hot, shower, put on comfy jammies and get into bed.  A cup of sleepytime or chamomile tea (or even regular tea) wil also help.  It will comfort you.

You can do this.

Take Advil or Motrin.  You know deep in your heart that you don't need a narcotic for the pain associated with your period it's just your addiction talking to you.  Ignore it and try Advil as it works great for this type of pain.

Hang in there it gets better.  :) (and no you're not being a baby, nobody likes to be in pain just remember it's temporary)
