I've been taking oxy 80 usually once a day for the past few months for recreational reasons...I got through the physical withdrawals with the help of Clonodine however I feel so depressed....I've been using off and on for years but more frequently the last 2 months..almost steady...how long does the depression last? it's horrible....

Before the pills or detoxing did you have problems with depression? If the answer is yes I would ask your doc for an antidepressant. Coming off pills will cause depression in anyone but for those who already have problems with depression before the pills the depression comes back in a huge way. Thats my experience anyways. I just started an antidepressant a few days ago and have lined up an addiction counsellor to help me with the issued that have caused my depression. I recommend you look into that as well. Also, you could look into going to NA meetings. Aftercare is really important and I wish I had known how bad my depression was going to be after quitting because if I had known I would have started an antidepressant before detoxing and made sure my aftercare was in place well ahead of time. Now I am starting over but this time have put the odds in my favor by taking an antidepressant and getting therapy to help me stay clean. If you have never suffered from depression before then read up on PAWS page on this site. It will give you a lot of information on why your depressed and what to expect over the next while. No matter if you had depression before or didn't aftercare should be a part of your plans for recovery. Most ppl on here with lots of clean time all say that aftercare is a MUST. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.
