I did not mean to even suggest that motherhood was not something you may not be looking forward to yet...
I asked the question about wanting to stop in an effort to understand how far this addiction (if it is addiction) goes. If you want to quit that's wonderful and if you don't then that's a problem that needs to be addressed right away. I know for sure that addiction is not just about taking pills...or not taking them.
Please post back...
Hi Lily, welcome to the forum. There have been many ladies here with your exact situation, so put your feet up and relax a few minutes while we talk and you meet some very nice people who will help you in any way they can. First, how much of the oxy do you take a day, and how long have you been on it? And have you been to a doctor yet?
I'm so happy that you came here right away and told us about the pregnancy. You are really early, which is wonderful! The earlier it is, the easier to get hold of the situation and fix it without harm to you or your baby. You need to see a doctor immediately and be very honest right from the get-go. That way you won't have Child Protective Services breathing down your neck about the baby's safety--by telling the doc up-front, you will also protect yourself legally. Some doctors help supervise patients through a taper program; others don't disturb the pregnancy by making the mama quit until after the birth. You'll just have to see.
Again, welcome, and post often and ask questions. We are here to help!
Okay, first of all: Don't Panic!
This happens. Don't stop the oxy abruptly; that's very dangerous. Get an appt. to speak with your doctor/OB as soon as possible. Be honest and the doctor will take it from there.
Do you want to stop for the pregnancy? You need to ask that question of yourself. It's important if you want to assure you have a healthy little person...
