oxycodone recovery

Have gotten addicted to oxycodone for about 10 months now.  When I called for a refill my doc would not refill the script.  This weekend and still I am going through withdrawal.  Today (3/4/08) makes day 5.  How long does this goes on?  Managed to sleep one night.  Seems night is the worst time for me. That is when I would wake up every 2 hours and take 2 until about 6:00 am.  My arms are crazy.  No sweating today.  Just sore arms.  After reading the topics here, I am hoping I don't have long to go. I keep wanting to go and see the doc, but my husband won't allow me to.  Probably just subconscious illy want to get more drugs.  This is the first time I've every went through withdrawal. I'm 52 and to old to be going through this.  Any advice?

The withdrawals get better everyday just stick with it.  When you can't sleep don't just lay in bed.  Get up and do something.  I cleaned thing that I hadn't cleaned in years.  Use the nervous energy to your advantage and then hopefully you will wear yourself out and be able to get some sleep.  You may not have wanted to go through withdrawals but it is good for you.  The pain pills are poison.

I understand how you feel. I'm 51 and I also think I'm to old to be going thru this too. We also have in common the same drug of choice. I have been clean for almost a month. I took alot of valium and that helped greatly. 10 months is not a long time compared to most so that is good news. I think you will be feeling much better by friday. I found it  was hard to do but not as hard as I thought it was going to be.
