oxycontin side effects

by greg8, Mar 10, 2009 07:43PM
Hi everyone, i just stumbled on this site and it is just what I have been lookin for. I was wondering if anyone new about the side effects of Oxycontin. I am currently taking 60 mg. 3 times a day for chronic pain. I have notice among other things that my sex drive has pretty much disappeared and that I have real problems getting erections if I may be so bold here. So I was wondering if anyone knows if that is a normal side effect of this drug. Also sweating and chills seem to be happening alot. If I go to long without taking the pill I get restless legs and sweat and my skin starts to craws. I have been on this drug at this dose for about 8 months now and before that I was on m.s. contin for about a year or more. I want to get off the drug but I don't know what the best way to do this is. Can this be fairly easy? Anyway I really wanted to know if anyone knew of sexual side effects that pertain to drive and erection problems?

This is an excellent place for support that youre going to need to kick these, because it is not going to be easy in anyway until you are truly clean, which will be some time from now...

I am going to tell you how it is...okay? I just dont wanna sound too harsh... many others will also do the same here, but always know we are all here for you and youre not the only one suffering from these...you are not alone.

Sexual side effects are least of your worries at this point...(My sex drive was squashed too)...You are going to feel like complete junk trying to get off of these pills...you will go thro sweats, body aches, depression, low motivation, sluggishness, and feeling like complete sh**...

You can do this...I am doing the same thing, I have been off of them for a month but I have since relapsed for the past 2 days and am trying to just kick it again...you will be able to do this if you have the will power...keep posting and checking in here...

yes sexual drive seems to be a problem while using any opiates, also anti-depression meds can also cause this,so it goes without saying that yes you can have erection problems,so your not alone.maybe someone that knows a little more on this subject will be commenting shortly.i remember being in rehab and once patients start to get clean the hormones start flying,so the best way that i can think of to eliminate this problem is to stop using any opiates, easier said than done i know but thats the reality.   steveo

Yup it will cause sexual side effects like you mentioned and once your off them expect to be as randy as a 13 year old hormonal boy. It will be a whole new exciting feeling. If you can start tapering your dose slowly, talk to your doctor about it too they can help you with a plan to cut it back slowly. When your down lower you can think about doing a cold turkey detox or you can even consider that now. No matter how you do it your going to have some bad wd's there is no easy way to come off the oc.
