oxycontin withdrawal

i'm new to the erea of posting or asking advice on this subject, or any other for that matter.So here it it goes, i'v been prescribed and taking oxy's now on 9, yes 9 years, due to a back injury that occured in 1994, the first operation i got relief for about 1 month, then it was back to being pretty much bedridden,2'nd operation not much better, they did fix me to the point that i dont go dirt-diveing every time i try to stand.Most mornings i litterally have to crawl out of bed, then its to the liveing room to take my med's.like most folks in this forum, i most every month find myself running out before my next Dr. visitNO-FUN if i take them only as directed, all i'm able to do is the bare essen. without any quality of life, at 45yrs. oldi still have things i would like to do other than stare at the ceiling.the 2'nd surgury they gave me some HARDWARE ,titanium rods and bolts, so needless to say the pain never goes away, with enough oxy, it just causes me not to notice it as muchi'm prescribed 40mg @2 a day and have at times taken as many as 10 of them a day, tired of this, know i've got to get off them before they take my life,i have a 5 yr. old grandson i'd like to see grown.my doctor said this was the only med that would ever help the pain, just tired of ALL of it and want to get off them.in DIRE need of advice,the probability is i will be bedridden the rest of my life

My dear you have come to the right place.  I quit oxycontin ER 80 mgs 65 days ago.  My prescribed dosage was six 80 mg tabs a day.  I was on it for almost three years for injuries from a car wreck.  I still have pain but having a real life again far outweighs the benefits of withdrawals, etc.  First you need to make a plan, and then if you really want to, you can give them up.  I know, I did it.  So if you need anything and I mean anything, let me know and I will try to help you.

That was a very nice comment.  Thank you so much.  After the day I've had, it really boosted my spirits.  Yes, I live in Florida, central Florida actually.  I love it!  I'm only 1 and 1/2 hours away from the beaches and also 1 and 1/2 hours from Orlando where all the attractions are.
I have a good friend that is from PA and she is always complaining about the heat, but there must be something she likes about Florida because she's still here.
Thanks again for your kind compliment.  At one time it was hard to think I could even give advice, but I've been there so I guess that helps.

I think that these drugs (sad to say) have infiltrated every city from New York to Mt. Dora........I'm so glad I keep trying to break this habit.......I have tried many times and failed but something was different this time.....like a message from my body saying JESUS.......SAVE ME YOU DUMBASS.....anyway....glad were neighbors but I wish for all our sakes we were meeting without those nasty drugs involved......BTW....I'm Chuck (day11)

Yeah i have only been here a little less than 5 years.. but I love it here. I lived in Pa my whole life. So much to do here.. and since I am a hair dresser in South Tampa.. I make alot more money than I would make alot of places... I live in Seminole Heights though which is in central tampa.. its an "up and coming" neighborhood.. which means half ghetto and the other half is "historic"

Yes....Its a small world (after all)  I have been here 25 years now.......I love it in Tampa....its a great place to live considering all the things there are to do.......Good luck with the wedding.......I bet you'll be happy when its all over!

thanx for the heads up, yoda99, have a dr. appt. this Mon. with diff. doc.He's a little closer to home by about 75 miles, will talk with him about weaning me down, then off oxy's altogether.dont know how the titanium in the back is gonna be, but at this point, the rest of my body is telling me to wake up, and smell the Roses, And, yes, I also live in hot-sunny FLA. just up on the top side, bout 20 miles due south of Tally,at any rate, I appreciate any advice,and what to look for as for the rods and bolts,mainly worried about falling and tearing them out.
