pain pills

I was in a bad car accident in 03. I started using vic, which was prescribed to me. Since then I have been taking it everyday. It got to the point where I was taking 20- 50 pills a day. Vicodin and or perc. 5/7/11 was the last morning I took 4 vic es's. I have had nothing since then. I am going thru withdrawl (withdrawal) right now. I have to work 12 hr days 5 days a week. I can not take time off work to get thru this. I have made my mind up and am ready to quit. I no longer get them prescribed to me so I was buying them off the street. I am tired of spending all the money and I am tired of the way i feel when I do not have them. I just wanna ask... when will I start to feel somewhat "normal" again? Is there anything I can do to help me get thru this easier?? I just want to feel happy without the pills! Im over it...

I understand what you are going through!  First of all, everyone is different in terms of their wd symptoms. The good thing is, you have the 'will' to stop the endless cycle so that is a great start! Generally, the first 3-5 days are the hardest in terms of upset stomach, restless legs, hot flashes, chills, anxiety etc. Can you take off of work for a few days?  I am asking because from what I read, it sounds like you have been using pretty steady which means it may not be smooth sailing from here. Or, have you looked into any alternatives/taper methods, such as suboxone?  Just throwing out some options, no judgement here :)

You're on the right track and have found a great forum to be involved with through this entire process, trust me! Like the above poster mentioned, you're going to be different with everything than the next person -- I was a lot different from most, and hadn't been taking the nasty little pills for as long as some, so everyone is different. I also agree with the above poster that you may want to re-consider taking even just two days off from work to go through this. A lot of times, going through WD and having to work will make someone want to use even more because they'll keep telling themselves: well, it's just this last time so I can get through the day today... Then it just keeps going from there. It happened to me.

You're on the right track, and jeep posting to let us know!!!

i too have been in a bad car accident and have pretty much been bed ridden for a year n a half.(currently writeing from my bed) i am 32 yrs old so this has devistated my life..any way...the point is everyday i struggle wit these stupid pills,im not takin as much as u have to probly because im unable to work n i can see how by working while injured can cast u into an addiction of pain meds..right now im takin baclofen muscle relaxers and percs..im refuseing to take it as perscribed i take an average of 1 baclofen n 1 perc 4 the whole day and it makes me feel like crap.ive had problems with drug use in he past that is y im reluctant to commit to the pills..the whole injury thng alone is a ***** and when u add the drugs to it it totaly turns ur world upside down..wut i want to tell u is u need to take the time to get ur self 2 gether..i worked through the pain for the 1st two years of my injury and made my self worst..(i neglected my health for my stupid job and now im totally useless and my boss could care less now. dnt lose hope or site of the "normalcy" u crave,i cry for it everyday its ur right to have that  but only u can get that back. NO JOB IS WORTH UR HEALTH BROTHER , just no ur not the only one  good luck.
