pain specialist?

Hi everyone... I have a question, my doctor referred me to a pain specialist. Tomarrow is my appointment, I have been battling with my addiction to codine and so far Im doing really good. I take not even half of what i use to. And I only take them when i have to have them for pain.  But what exactly is methadone and suboxone?  Will he give me that, and if so, it sounds like it is addictive..  And i don't want to start another medication that is addictive..  Any advice would help :-)

thankyou,

lisa

agree with eagle.  if you are down to a few a day, likely another pain management method will work, other than narcotics.

there alot of ways to manage pain out there.  but you have to research them, go try them, and see what work.

you have to really want to be done with this.  a pain specialist will help you find a good way if it's a good one.  if not try another. than another, til you find the right one.

there IS another way...

Codeine is one of the easier narcs to withdraw from. Unless you are taking 1800mg a day or something .... do some research if you are offerred sub or meth for this one. It would be a huge mistake....Seriously......

If your only taking a small does I highly reccomend not changing one addiction for another...it will be hard for a week maybe but than it will be so much better I promise...think about it and read what you can on this forum, there is a lot of info available.
