hi there and welcome...i am a recovering opiate abuser and i was exactly on the same mg as you...taking 10 to 12 pills a day...i tried the taper....just prolonged the misery for me and i started back up again....finally tried the ct and had great success...i was real scared to wd from them but it wasn t as bad as i thought...not the most pleasant time but somehow we all get through it...can you take some time for yourself to detox...maybe on a long weekend....physical wds usually over in 5 days but mental wds can make us feel miserable for a bit  so think of some type of aftercare...you can do it...stay here and keep posting every day...best of luck...maria :)

i have been addicted to oxys and percs for a while now.  the firstt time i quit i was on them for over 2 years and i taperd off.  icouldnt do it bymyself so i had to tell my gf my probloem and she understood and helped me out . she held on to my pills and gave me my daily dose.  i was taking around 30 percs a day and some oxys.  i cut back to like 20 percs and then every 3 days i just droped a copule.  it took a month i went right down to taking a quarter perk a day.  i didnt feel any wds it was great.  but no wway in hell i could of done it bymyself.  now im on day 5 of going ct from oxys.  the wds sucked for the frist 3 days but iots bareable.  its honelsty in our head.  our fear and scaring of the withdrawls is waht makes us satrt to freak out.  you can do it tho your not the only one whos been in this situation.  if you can taper thats a great way.  but going ct has is benifits too.  mesasge me if you need help with anyhtthing i may be able to help you out a lil

This is the second time I have read your post. The first answer I wrote to you I decided not to send and I hoped someone else would answer your post. And I really don't know why you haven't gotten more replies by now. I think it is the note of urgency. So let me try to give it a shot.

Slow down! There is a sound of urgency in your post and now is the time to really think things through. You are already doing great just to realize that you must stop.  This is very serious and at 19 you are doing things that will have an extra big impact on the direction your life takes. It is fairly easy to get derailed at 19 and have to spend lots of time getting back on track.

You have the time to taper. The only reason I think to not taper even a bit, even for a few days is because you feel you do not have the control. The first attempt I made at tapering I only lasted a few days before I was back were I started. The most recent attempt I cut down rapidly from 300mg to 60mg which I divided into two 30 mg doses. I stayed at 60mg for 2 weeks then went cold turkey. But before this I have gone cold turkey many times and I think tapering really makes a difference in the intensity of your withdrawal and it is like going into the cold ocean very slowly. Takes longer, but it depends on your style.

Next: do you live with your family or on your own? What your situation is with your family I think is worth more thinking. People are usually supportive and families are sometimes relieved because they knew something was wrong and probably feared it was something much worse.
However, if for some reason you feel that this is unwise you know your situation best.

Withdrawal is a bit different for everyone. So it is hard to predict for sure. But generally it is like a very bad case of the flu. The good news is that it is time limited
usually lasting 10 days until you feel more normal. The 3 or 4th day is usually experienced by most people as the worst with it getting better from there daily. You can get as much support as you ask for from the wonderful people on this site.

In terms of help at home. If your city is like most in the States there is free help available. Look in your phone directory, sometimes it is in the front special services section, for a listing. You can also get in touch with NA or AA. But I understand if that feels way out of the question.

You will BE okay. Lots of us. (me) have been where you are. If you want to send me a private message feel free. Just hover over my name and choose message from the window that appears.

Good Luck. Keep going.

You have come to the right place. Congrats on wanting to quit, you have taken the first step.  Check out the thomas recipe and amino acid protocol. get gatorade, immodium, and bananas. You will feel like you have the flu for about a week, days 1 thru 3 are the worst. Exercise when you can, even just to walk around outside for a little while. take hot baths and showers. you can do this! stay online, post and read other post. We are here to support you. Good Luck.
