I know exactly where ur coming from. Vicodin or Oxycodone some how gives me lots of energy and Makes me feel all Happy and Great !
Well - that's the point of an Opiate Based Narcotic - to give us a False sense of Well Being. We have a Painful Neck or Back, it obviously doesnt Cure us, just makes us feel better.
I think the only real Way to get off Percocet is to simply Stay off it. I don't think you should have any real Physical issues. Your Stomach may feel very upset - and u may frequent the Bathroom. Your MD may even prescribe some Valium to help calm your nerves.
Otherwise - you can taper - but I feel with Percocet - that probably wont really help....
You need to figure out how you can get a week off from any major commitments so you can have some time to get thru the worst of the wd's which last about 4 days..Day 5 and 6 will be slightly better, but nothing to yell and scream about with a "woppie!"..Then find someone that can help with the kids as during these 4 days, your going to be like "zero energy",,going to be getting mood swings from h*ll, aggitated from the lack of sleep that hits, etc..
There are a few things that will help which you would want to have before you jump ship..One thing would be Immodium..Virtually everyone that is wd'ing from opiates has stomach problems or diarrhea..Having the immodium works great for getting thru that. Also pick up some "Melatonin" to help you sleep..These first few days a person is extremely lucky if they can get more than a half hour or 45 minutes worth of sleep at one time.. If you look at the bottom of the right hand column, you will see the "Thomas Recipe". These are vitamins and suppliments that will help your body readjust and replentish that which the pain pills interfered with..
So thats a brief picture of what to expect..Everyone is different so depending on how long you have been taking the meds and the quantities on a daily basis, you may not get hit hard with real bad withdrawals and rebound rather quickly.. Hope this helps some..
