percocet withdrawal

percocet withdrawal

I have been on percocet for over 5 years, I have stopped cold turkey. I am now experiencing diarea (diarrhea) and I am wondering how long it will take for my body to heal?

I have been taking 4-5 daily.

If anyone can help I would greatly appriciate it.

Hi and Welcome!

You were on the meds for a long time but the good news is that you were on a low dose.

You are going to feel flu like symptoms for about a week. It is uncomfortable but so worth it once you get clean.

Look at the health pages up top on the right and you will The Thomas Recipe. There are supplements that will ease the withdrawal symptoms.

Try and do some light exercise such as walking and keep yourself busy...reading, do a jigsaw puzzle, etc.

It is also very important to keep your self hydrated. Push fluids such as Gatoraide and maybe some chicken soup. Anything to keep the fluids in your body. with running to the bathroom as you are, you are losing Potassium so you need to keep that in check.

Please hang in there and keep posting. It often helps just to talk about it.

First....use immodium for the loose stools. You may want some emetrol for the stomach also. Within 5-10 days you will most likely be past withdrawals and into recovery. Then the other part can start. Cut off all connections and ties. Tell the Doc that you wont need any more...delete "friends" and dealers that may supply you....cancel any further refills at the pharmacy. Learn as much as you possibly can about this problem. And keep posting here with questions and for support.....

Hi. I am a rookie here and only stopped taking about 6 hydrocodone/ day  six days ago. I have diareah but its not real bad and seems to be lessening the last couple of days.  I think "healing" times vary but from what i am reading the worst is over in a week and then a couple of weeks of lesser stuff.

Myself after 6 days i am mainly just tired during the day and have trouble sleeping at night.
I know one thing.  It aint no fun and you are gonna have to suck it up and tough it out but its really not even as bad as having the flu so remember that when u feel awful.  Good luck!
