please help me decide....detox or not?

please help me decide....detox or not?

im 29yo female on 60mg of oxys 3 times a day and percocet as needed.  I have been on the same dose of meds for 2 yrs now.  I dont abuse the medication prescribed to me from my pain managment dr.  I have fibro and chronic back pain and severe endometreosis that caused me a tremendous amount of pain.  I went yrs undiagnosed in misery from the pain, then i got on pain medication that now brings me to misery from being dependent on it.  the past few yrs (on opiods) my pain has gotten worse.  i dont know if its my disease getting worse or opiod induced pain which is a new concept to me brought to my attention by my physcatrist.  He believes I have increased pain and sensitivity from the opiods.  I might, i dont know.  I have had 3 surgeries for the endo, every injenction known to man, even gone to extremes of trying to get a spinal cord stimulator put in....which was unsuccessful and i lost all my spinal fluid(the worst pain imaginable) and nothing has helped.  my life and pain just seems to be getting worse.  I see my life slipping away. i have shut people out of my life, i sleep all the time and go to dr. appts always, i cant work, i barely function, ive missed important events in my friends and familys life from fatigue and pain and i hate my life now.  If any of this is caused or made worse by these opiods i want them out of my life.  So my question is what do you think? has anyone else gone to detox/rehab and thier pain symptoms improved.  I went and toured the rehab and am authorized to go from insurance.  now i just need to commit to it and do it right?  i dont know will it help? is the withdrawl (withdrawal) pain and stuff worth it if im going to possibly be in worse pain without the meds?

First off, your dosage of opiods is high. I am fearful that if you try to detox, (usually about 5-8 days), you won't be able to handle the pain of withdrawel on top of your already painful conditions. There is a drug called Suboxone which is used to help your addiction and withdrawel symptoms to the opiod, much like Methadone, but without the massive dependance. Suboxone will still come with a dependance, but with detox, will be easier to overcome. I work at an outpatient treatment center and we do not support Methadone anymore. Very few doctors nationwide can prescribe Suboxone, but if you can find one, you should try it. Baby steps with some physical therapy and different, non habit forming drugs should help you. Have you tried medications made specifically for fibro? Are you taking birth control for your endo? From what I have seen, people that successfully take over thier pain from injuries and surgeries do it with physical therapy and muscle building exercise. Your body is practically dystrophied from the lack of physical activity and can no longer support itself. I hope you will put in the effort and use your mind to overcome the worst of the pain.

Why are there restrictions on doctors being able to write prescriptions of suboxone if I may ask?

Thank you.  Your concerns are very similiar to mine.  I have tried physical therapy before and about after 8 visits I stopped due to the pain i experienced after.  Ususally i would be in extreme pain and need to sleep for 2-3 days after.  Yes I have done the bc method to manage the endo and even did lupron for it for a year, neither helped with the pain from it.  Suboxone when do they give that during detox?  Why do you think suboxone will help?  I think I am 90% sure I am going to go to detox and try it.  I dont have any other options I feel like I have tried everything and if this medication is making things worse I need to.  I have to get control of my life again. For example today I woke up at 4pm from fatigue.  I dont have a life anymore.  I pray that this cant be what my life will be like forever I'm 29 years old.  I have to fight it and im hoping some of the fight i need to do is detox.

Hi!  I think that you might find that your pain actually gets better after a while off the pain meds.  Mine did.  I'm being honest.  You may be in some pain now DUE TO the opiates.  When they wear off, the pain comes back and seems worse.  It is rebound pain.  Your body is telling you to put more meds in, because it is dependent on them.

I would go into detox.  Give it a try.  There are many people on here who would love the opportunity to go to detox like you can.  Just try it.  What do you have to lose?

Good luck!
