pump

I had a pump  installed in 2008 to control muscle spasticty due to Multiple Sclerosis. They use Baclofen in my pump, the pump worked beautifully to control my muscle spasms. Unfortunately, my body has created a tremendous amount of scar tissue around both the pump and catheter site on my back. So now I have HORRIBLE chronic pain. My Neurologist prescribed Stadol for my migraines, but I am now receiving botox injections every 12 weeks for the migraines (the botox has been a life saver, and luckily I have insurance that pays for it). But he still prescribes me Stadol, which has been a life saver for my chronic pain. Well I went for a pump refill a few days ago and we disscused different ways to control my chronic pain. The Doctor decided that on my next refill (early September) she was going to add diluded to the baclofen. She told me to keep taking the Stadol until then (I am assuming to avoid withdrawls). My question is, once they add the diluded to my pump, will I have to be weened off the stadol to avoid withdrawls? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there-  To answer your question, no. You shouldn't go into WD's. I'm sure the doctor knows the proper dose of Dilaudid to coverr you. The only way you'd have symptoms would be if the dose was too low.

Do you use the Stadol everyday, though?  If not, that's another reason why you wouldn't need weaning...

I'm glad the botox is working for you!
