query on medication to aid withdrawal

What medication can be used to help with withdrawal symptoms from crack  cocaine.
I know that L-tyrosine helps but don't know how to find a product with it that I can get to help my husband. He has been using Crack for 4 months now and is battling to get off of it. Does it have to be a prescription medication?

Hi, welcome here :)

do you know about the thomas recipe and the amino acid protocol ? you could read them on the health pages ( right side of the screen ) ... ltyrosine is an amino acid and can help with the lack of energy but i am not sure if it is a good idea for the first days of wds because it can make some people feel jittery , so it is a matter of trying it for your husband. Maybe someone with experience on crack and cocaine will come and help you much better than me, i don't have experience with those substances, sorry. If he is having problems with sleep, melatonin and valerian root could also help him ( they are OTC ) ... and about the ltyrosine, just ask at any drugstore about it, it is sold otc ( walgreens.. )

good luck :) and keep posting all your questions, please... those are quiet days here but i am sure someone will help :)
