question about suboxone?

I was recently taking 7 and a half mg .  of methadone for about 1 yr.  and i foolishly switched over to sub. but at the time I was scared of a drug test at work and thought sub wouldnt show. and I thought sub was a miracle drug or something.   But , anyway I  only take little pieces , but I have been about to go crazy because my ears will not stop ringing!!!  I never really had this problem on methadone maybe just a slight ringing. Is there anyone else that has this problem on subs? if so , please tell me how to make it stop...
             thanks ,

I don't know if I should put my 2 sense in here....but I'm going to anyway.  I read above that someone said that sub w/d was way less than methadone and some people using it as a maintenance.  Please be forwarned....there will come a time when you will have to stop using the subs of which I did on Jan 1st and it's been 32 days and I'm still feeling affects??? I'm NOT saying that other drug w/d isn't harsh and bad...but don't EVER underestimate subs w/d!  That was the freakin hardest 3 weeks of my life!!!!  The w/d's last longer than any other drug I've seen is the problem.  The shortest length of time you can take subs the better....the smallest amount DAILY you can take the better.  But when you make that jump, I truly believe that whatever w/d you were trying to AVOID by going on subs is going to come up anyway, ALONG WITH THE SUBS.  This is my opinion, and I am NOT a doctor, so I'm only stating what happened to me! Was on opiates for 6 years and went straight to subs for 6 years.  This detox was not a ******* cake walk.  Sorry :(   !

It's been 9 years on 2mg In The morning and 2mgs in the afternoon. Suboxone is the most horrible drug out. The dr should have kept us on no longer then 30-90 days.
You can never stop this poison. I'm angry to say the least. I've tried to taper and it's worse then coming off Vicodin
I was on a 10-12 day Norco habit.
I'm like a robot. My personality *****. My relationships suffer. $500 a month for this garbage. 7 day in patient programs cost thousands.
I'd rather go back to Norcos and quit then. Anyone I'm open to suggestion.

the tinnitus (ringing in ears) is the result of the antibusing  component in suboxone designed to keep you from using any other opioids.  That's the way sub works and the remaining meth in your system set it off as meth has a long 1/2 life.   I hope this helps!

I have been on subox for 6 years & I notice the ringing when I up my dose to more than 8mg. (like 12-16mg,). This has happened only recently after being on subox for 6 years though. Not before. I am stopping to see what happens. I also want to share the things that work for me since being on subox to prevent certain side effects (i.e. constipation, headaches etc.)  It has been very valuable to go to acupuncture along with a cupping. The acupuncture will prevent constipation & the cupping is EXCELLENT for headaches & respiratory health & much more. You may find acupunture place that does sliding scale or ask them if you can't afford the rate.  I am going to see if it can help with ringing in my ear & I will post result. Also make sure you take a magnesium supplement at bedtime along with calcium, zinc. Take them in separate form because it works better. They have Nature's Way buy 1 get 1 free & they r inexpensive to begin with. It is GREAT for constipation. Make sure you eat some greens & fruit few times a week. Doesn't have to be daily if u can't but at least 3x's a wk. Get exercise 3x's a wk at least. Make sure you don't neglect your health because when I did I seem to have more side effects. If you are not into acupuncture another GREAT EFFECTIVE holistic remedy is foot reflexology. They have places that do it cheap ($25.an hr.). I think subox is great, you just have to listen to your body & that is a challenge for addicts. I even think meditation is a great tool. I still go to meetings once in a while but I really need it more. Hope this helps. If any1 wants me to email them leave your e-mail. I have so much great info 2 share but don't want 2 take up more of your time. Thanks... best to u all.

Not neccesarily - that post was for basslover's specific situation, he said he'd had it for quite some time already. Same advice applies to you tho... if the ringing is persistent and irritating seeing a doctor is a good idea. And like I said - I noticed that once I started taking suboxone my hearing seemed more crisp and clear so maybe that has something to do with the ringing also? I'm not really sure but it's definitely possible. There's not really an extensive list of sub side effects yet... there's a good majority out there but people discover new ones all the time. One of the drawbacks of a newer medication is you kinda learn as you go! Again tho if it's something that's bothering you or if you suffer from episodes of hearing loss and vertigo along with the ringing, definitely go see a doctor. Best of luck to you!

Ringing in the ears is referred to as tinnitus and many things can cause it. Loud noises, head trauma, TMJ, ear infection, Lyme disease, earwax buildup. Going to see an ENT could be helpful in possibly determining the cause. You said you work around loud heavy equipment is a space where sound bounces and echos so that definitely could be an explanation. As far as it being worse or louder now on the sub vs. methadone... I noticed I was hearing things more clearly once I got onto sub. Suboxone works differently on the brain receptors than other opiates do so there's a lot of neurological things going on. Ear/hearing function can be related to neurolgical changes so a better sense of hearing makes sense, it turn, making that ringing sound louder! You can do some research online - there's tons of info about ringing ears out there. And if you wanted to go see a doctor, it wouldn't be a bad idea. If you have episodes of hearing loss or extreme vertigo along with the ringing I'd say go see the doc sooner than later cuz those are symptoms of more serious conditions - nothing life threatening but worth getting checked out for. Good luck!!

I have had a slight ringing in my ears for a long time , some people said it was where I run heavy equipment in a coal mine can cause it from all the loud noises. But it seems like when I switched over to sub that the ringing has gotten slightly louder.  I hope it is not something bad like u guys said. what is so bad that u think could be wrong?
Thank you guys so much for taking the time to help me out...

I have been on Sub for 16-17 months. If you are hearing a constant ringing AND IT WONT GO AWAY. Man I would be at the suboxone doctors office immediately. That can be a sign of something seriously wrong. Good luck.
