"cant handle this I have 3 children and I cant even do anything I feel so crappy!!!"
As I read that I felt for you and your situation. The irony of it is that if you do not stop know you will never have the opportunity to be there for your children. Some people are solely dependent on the medicinal value of prescribed narcotics and that may very well be your case. If so I recommend to taper down regardless. A combination of different drugs will help you more than a daily surplus of oxycodone.
Your initial question was regarding the Thomas Recipe. It does work...wonders :-). However it is for people that are completely off opiates. Combining any benzodiazapine with oxy is a very dangerous cockail, even if you do not feel the effects of the benzo. (valium, xanax, klonopin etc.)
You asked what other medication will help this process. You mentioned that you want something that is non addiction. Unfortunately there is very little out there that will help your situation that has no potential for abuse. I'm in no way a Dr. however I would recommend something like Soma or Ultram(tramadol). Soma is a muscle relaxer that will take the edge off of opiate withdrawal as well as help the pain in your back that narcotics can't do. Ultram is thought by many to not be an opiate pain killer at all. I disagree, I feel it is an opioid. Ultram or tramadol is much weaker than oxycontin and is a lot easier to get off of.
As for medicines that are non-addictive I would recommend naproxen. Naproxen is Aleve from any store. Stay away from excess use of acetominophen and ibuprofen. Coordinating these two medications through out the day will alleviate pain but no withdrawal. BE SURE NOT TO EXCEED 4 grams of tyelonol if you take this.
Sorry If I said anything that you already know. But this information really helped me through my dependancy.
I was once on 270mg of methadone a day.
I no longer take anything besides Naproxen or aspirin occasionally.
And life could not be better!
Good luck and let me know if this helps.

yes i cant believe my dr. has been giving me this dose for this long and now that I see a different dr. he looked at what I take and was like wow this is way too much, I do take them to feel better also cuz I cant stand to not take them, i'd rather deal w/my back pain than the pain from not taking them. I dont take anyother meds at all just those 2 things (which is enough!!!) what rx's could he give me that would help this process? I dont want anything that I will become addicted to. I dont want to trade 1 addiction for another like methadone no way. O god trying to take care of my children like this is so hard!! that is my main concern its not fair to them, i just need a slower taper i think. the way I see it is the dr. helped me get here he needs to help me get out comfortablly and slowly thank-you so much for replying
That is a large dose and u wont find many drs who will rx this dose of oxy...that is a drastic cut tho
If u are only physically dependent..and not mentally..it will be much easier for u to wean down as u will have more discipline than one who is a true addict..there is a pain forum here and these peeps for the most part use narcotics successfully..this forum is an addict forum and we did not use our narcotics successfully...the most i was ever RX-ed was 40 mgs of hydro a day as drs here r leery of RX-ing narcs...so i did not use as prescribed and was at 100 mgs of hydro when i stopped...course if i had a dr rx-ing me 360 mgs a day//i would probably have used as prescribed as well..i would imagine i woulda had tons left over but i am sure i woulda eventually gotten to where i needed that much to keep going everyday as well if i had them...I would often wonder when i saw my tolernce rising so quickly at the end, where will i be in 10 yrs..there would be no dose large enuf to help me due to tolerence and what if i ever had an accident and needed pain control? I shudder to think cos it is hard to control pain when a person's tolerence is so high//and that tolerence never goes away..when a person goes back to using they r usually up to their prior dose in less than a week
I am also a chronic painer and post on both forums..I do know I am an addict tho..doesnt sound like u are..I have DDD and plates in my neck//severe scoliosis..for me narcotics were not the answer due to tolerence//we r all different..i have found alternative safe measures for pain control since then and do not hurt any worse when i got off the narcotics.narcotics only interrupt the pain signal to the brain, there is no direct pain relief like from ice, anti-inflamatories etc...the person just interprets the pain differently and basically they dont care about the pain due to the endorphin release narcotics cause in the brain//exercise also increases endorphins
If u read thru the health pages..u will find alot of ways to make urself more comfortable during this if this is what u r gonna have to do//what other meds do u take? there r safe meds this dr can RX u to help u thru this
keep posting and I feel ur pain...hang tight
