i was so desperate to get off methadone, that i did consider this, but after watching a friend do this, i decided that its not for me, and i eventually went to inpatient
after talking to my friend i believe that you will not be asleep the whole time, he was a mess and remmebered the horror of it all, the day he got out of the hospital he used oxys and died from lack of tollerance
please post this on the addiction professional forum, and maybe think about inpatient
most rapid docs charge 7000 for procedure but it includes aftercare, however most patients feel like **** when they are released from the hospital and return to using
if no one responds here to your thread, i can send you to another site where people have done this, i cannot think of anyone here who has done rapid, but i do not know everyone

Yeah I actually considered one of those programs a while ago, something like the waismann method I believe it was called. When I asked the question I got an overwhelming amount of people strongly opposed to the whole rapid detox issue. Another thing I found was that there were some deaths that happened back in Michigan, along with what mtgoat said about people relapsing and overdosing after coming out. Its sad but whenever things sound too good to be true, well we all know that most of time they are. Ive come off methadone a few times, the highest amount I went c/t from was 40mgs, but there are some people who have c/t off very high doses 150-250mgs. Ive always been more of a tapering person to try and lessen the symptoms as much as possible, but it does take alot of willpower to stick to a schedule. So I dont have any personal experience with rapid detoxes, nor do I personally know anyone who has done one, but I have only heard negative stories about them. Your best bet is to go inpatient or even an outpatient facility that is willing to help you out. If your still considering a rapid detox make sure you do some extensive research and try to find some people who have actually gone through it, Ive yet to hear anything good about them though. Regardless I wish you the best of luck with your recovery, you can do it, you just have to really want to get clean. Good luck, take care.

does not sound medically safe..that dose of methadone for a length of time is in ur bones..they can not wipe it all out as meth is tored everywhere and is a longer detox than most...i just cant see this as being medically sound...but i have never done it/nor will i/be safe and educate urself on what u r spending a ton of cash on probably....rapid detox can not heal ur brain...time will...not 2 days on a table with funky drugs..they r preying on the fear of wd that people have...and u can get into deeper doo doo when u r afraid...i do hope this works for u...let us know how u do..be safe above all...keep posting

If you need your brain 'healed' then you probably shouldn't call them or do a rapid detox. But undergoing a rapid detox is certainly safer than taking Methadone daily for the rest of your life. Good luck.

Don't do it! I did it once and it was the worse experience ever!!!  I was so weak afterwards that I couldn't get out of bed to ****! After 2 months I just got back on oxy cuz I wasn't getting any better. Don't do it just go to a detox or use suboxone. This comes from someone who has been a heroin and oxy addict for over a decade and has been to countless detoxs and other methods

This is kind of an old thread.  I wonder how it turned out for tbirds.  I'm commenting on it because my son ran into the kind of problems he mentions: trying to quit methadone too quickly, relapsing, and overdosing because of the loss of tolerance.  A difference in his case is that he was not on a methadone maintenance program, just getting it off the street, and he occasionally took very large amounts (up to 1600 mg).  So he was even more susceptible to uncertainties about dosage and quality.
