restless leg syndrome?

restless leg syndrome?

Hi, I am now 5 or 6 days off the oxy.  I am too tired to think.  For days now when I try to sleep my legs hurt something awful. Then whatever part of me is touching the bed starts to ache.  So I move.  And then that part starts to ache.  I spend the night totally contorted and can't sleep a wink.

Anyone else go through this?  Will this pass too?  Is there anything I can take to help it?  I am already taking calcium and magnesium before bed.  I've slept about 5 hours in the past 3 days.  Total.

Any help?

Try a warm bath and soak your legs.  Bananas are supposed to help too.  This will get better.  Sleep is hard to come by in the beginning and that comes back also.  You should be getting to the tail end of the wd's.  Just stay focused and know you are getting your life back.  I know it suxs but it will get better.  Stay strong      sara

Try wrapping your legs with ace bandages right after you get out of the HOT bath, right before you go to bed.
If you are taking something to help with sleep take it at that time.
Hope this helps some..........don't give up and Good Luck!!!

OHH! I hate restless leg!! I am convinced it's one of the more horrid parts of the WD's!! It'll drive ya outta your mind!!

I took hot baths...sometimes three when I had the WD's (I stopped cold turkey 5 times haha)  It was the only thing that helped..that and my ipod.  Distraction is key....

I am not sure if it is rls.  When I lie down, my legs start to hurt something awful.  They ache and ache and ache.  I have to keep moving them to get a bit of relief.  But it only lasts a few seconds and then I have to move them again.

Is that RLS?  Or if it is something else and I described it poorly before, can you let me know what to do about this?

Sorry to be such a bother.  But I am only getting 3 hours of sleep and usually not until morning.  I am up all night in pain.  It is so annoying.

You're no bother!!!  Go and speak to a doc....I've never used them but know there are some medicines specifically FOR RLS. However, RLS comes with the WD territory and will prob not be permanent.  Also, I don't know if the meds for RLS are narcotic or not???  If we're talking the illegal (and unsafe) route I've used Benzo's to make it stop.....just use them when you need them and it's fine but there's always a good chance that someone with an addictive personality such as us.....you'll get addicted to that and trade one for the other....

WOW..I just completely talked myself out of my own idea there didn't I?? Some help I am!!

Have you considered getting into the Suboxone program?? That's what I do and it's done terrific for me.  I didn't have an RLS (aside from the 24 hrs before my 1st doc appt that I had to go without..only to find out they put me on Subutex 1st!!!)

Okay I'm officially rambling!!

Can't talk to any docs.  Got to do this on my own.  I'll get through it.  Thanks for the suggestions though.  Don't have any benzo's so I guess I just have to tough it out.  and giggle giggle, don't worry about the rambling, I am a master at it.

RLS -- this has totally worked for me and I was going out of my mind just this morning. calcium/magnesium supplement 500mg (I took 2) and Hyland's Restless Leg - its a homeopathic - and WORKS GREAT!  Plus lots of warm baths in epsom salts as the magnesium in this soaks easily into the skin.
