Yesterday my regular doctor diagnosed that i have RLS. the good
doctor perscribed klonipin .5mg. is there any other drug that
isn't in the benzo or barbiturate family that can effectively
control this malady?

I would like to add a question to Skipper's questions. What is the cause of Restless Leg Syndrome? I get it now and again, but only after I started taking Vicodin. It's not withdrawals because it will creep up on me while my body is well 'stocked' with the Vicodin. It's not constipation either because it will creep up on me after I've been 'emptied' (sorry if that sounds gross :( ). I'm wondering why and what the cause is of RLS?

Thanks so much,

I don't know what info medhelp has about restless  it may be worth a try but I can tell you this,,,,it can be hreditary first of all,,,alot of us have it my  family,,my 2 sisters,,my aunt and her daughters,,,,also while working on the ortho floor at the hospital a few of the ortho surgeons said it acn be caused for back injuries  and while i was pregnant i had it really really bad and thye told me it was from the added pressure on my spine and the position the baby was in   kind like on my nerve there,,,,i would get it day and night,,,,,benzos are usually prescribed and so they say hydro can be used to tame it,,,,,i never get it when i take the vicodin....while I was pregnant I never used anything,i had to do the natural things to help it when i got it,alot of walking and exercise (sometimes thought it provoked it)  back messages and leg messages,,,soaking my feet and legs in warm water before i went to bed,,or sometimes in the middle of the night there was cindi and the foot soaker..LOL  anyway  maybe I'll look it up for the hell of it.....later tater   love cin
