restless legs!

Hi, I'm having the worst rls, I've been taking the cal/mag/zinc supplement, walking 3-5 miles everyday, taking hot baths with epsom salt, and I still can't hold my legs still, especially at night.  I've heard people on here talk about quinine.  What is it and where can u get it?........thanks, Teri :)

Hey - I'm on Neurontin - it helps a bit. I'm on day 7 and since I've been taking it I can now get around 5 or 6 hours at night. I'm still aking up as dawn breaks every morning & like you, I'm going for really long walks & trying to get exercise. But  - the Nuerontin is giving me more sleep than I was getting before! Good luck - iy sounds like you're doing all the right things. Keep it up - as people kept saying to me - sleep WILL come!

I find the Hylands restless leg supplement makes my legs worse but the Hylands Leg Cramp formula is REALLY helpful for my cramps (which are HORRID at night) and it does contain the quinine.  I am also well known for my 2 am, 3 am hot showers at night to settle my legs.  My cramping isn't related to my detox as I've had it all my life and it comes and goes and the Hylands for cramps is the only thing that helps.   Also when I get out of the shower I have a heating pad ready and I wrap my legs up.  I hope you find some relief.

Bananas may aid you and hylands resftful leg our a knock off as long as it has quinine also heating pads our wrapping your legs in ace bandages might help to get some rest.. are you going to wait till you level out ? this will not last forever but you know it is not like pills where in 5 days you start to feel better. there is a saying here ya just got to be ok with not being ok for awhile but it does pass... sending you support. lesa

Hi teri
restless legs is the worst symptom especially at night. i had it for awhile. after two weeks i broke down and went to the doctor and he prescribed me meriplex. Its non narcotic and not addicting . i still take it at night. have you experienced that symptom before you were on pills?? also eat a banana at night. it seems to help. sorry your still experiencing this. it causes more sleep problems. and your body needs rest. our bodies use alt of energy detoxing ....keep up the good fight. this will eventually sort itself out...hugs

My dog used to lay on my legs and the pressure seemed to help.  Eat some bananas too as they are high in potassium.  Hope this goes away soon for you~~sara

The stuff with quinine in it is tonic water or Hyland's Leg Cramps.  It can be bought at Wal Mart over the counter in the vitamin section or near the pain relief products.

Teri - I've heard here that Neurontin (sp?) helps with RLS. It's a prescribed med you get from your Dr. It sounds like you're doing all the things that worked for me so maybe you need something more. I know I had  RLS really bad for about a month coming off opiates. I hope you get some relief
soon!!
