by 716, Nov 17, 2008 06:33PM
if i take subs for three or four days during OC w/ds will it help?  and will i feel any w/ds from the subs in that short ammount of time?  ive kicked OC twice, the first time for a couple months and the second for a couple weeks and my w/ds only seem to last about 5-6 days.

I took subs. for 4 days before i quit a nasty oxy roxy habbit. I had wds but you always will....they did seem to ease the wds a little bit but your gonna still have them for about 5-6 days.I'm on day 5 now and feel good....can function again...work ect. There is no way to not get wds that i know of but take a few days off 3-4 and this time stay strong....I still think of down the road using once in awhile but not everyday so i'll never get sick again.hopefully three times the charm for ya.

HI.  There are a lot of factors.  I am not a doctor but from what I know - yes sub will help for a few days with oxy withdrawal.  I would suggest using the lowest amount possible to help with withdrawal.  A little bit of sub goes a long way.  I cannot say if you will or will not have withdrawal after a few days..but I know people who used sub short term and had a pretty good experience with it.  I myself spent over 2 years on sub and I would not recommend that to hardly anyone.  Use it as a tool, not as a replacement and be wary that it can become that.  Important to remember that withdrawal from anything -- either sub or oxy -- will eventually go away, but its the aftermath thats the hardest to deal with. Support, Recovery groups, therapy, meetings use it ALL to stay clean and get through it.  I came to this site on day 8 in full blown withdrawal (and long term sub withdrawal can last a long time) and I was scared and panicked and was consumed with it.  I made it through with the help of people here.  And when they told me that withdrawal was the easy part and staying clean and learning to live again was the hard part, I could not imagine what they were talking about - now on day 70 something, I know exactly what they were talking about.  Support is so necessary after the physical pain.  I think the only way to stay clean is with it.  But I know that with strength and determination you can do it.  Best of luck to you - take care.

thanks so much, both of you.  i only know one person who can get me subs and he is the person who is helping me get off the OC the most.  he offered to get me two to help with w/ds during the school week so i can get stuff done until the weekend.  by next monday i should be well enough to do iton my own.  and i agree, once the physical w/ds wore off the first time i was too excited to ever imagine doing them again but then a couple months later i got too comfortable with my sobriety and got bored one day and relapsed which lead to another year of using.  theres only two people i can talk to about what im going through and they both live far away.  its hard.  i dont get the fever/throw up w/ds from OC, i get super depressed, dont sleep for 5 nights or so due to anxiousness and the the feeling of my knees being on fire (which baffles me why that would happen) , sweat and sneeze like crazy.   sorry if that was all over the place. lol.
