Side effects are possible with nalktrexone, but usually mild and short lived. I do know a user is supposed to wait at least 7 days after taking the last opiod to start this drug or you will feel like dog poop!
Hopefully your dr will help u out. we are all different and u may need a different dose. Studies show, It really does help folks stay clean, if they are compliant with it. Course, we gotta wanna be clean down deep,
good luck to u and keep posting
I am kinda shocked that you would say there are NO significant side effects. Every medicine out there can possibly cause some sort of side effects. When it comes to somebody having side effects when starting a new medicine telling them it doesn't cause side effects is putting them at risk for what could end up being a very serious problem . Here are the side effects of Naltrexone and they can happen even if you aren't on an opiate. I myself had some mild side effects when I took it and I had been off Suboxone for 10 days
Anxiety; appetite loss; chills; constipation; delayed ejaculation; diarrhea; dizziness; drowsiness; feeling down; headache; increased energy; increased thirst; irritability; joint and muscle pain; low energy; nausea; nervousness; sleeplessness; stomach pain/cramps; vomiting.
Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur when using Naltrexone:
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); abdominal or stomach pain; cramping; dark urine; depression; suicidal thoughts or behaviors; unusual tiredness or weakness; vomiting; white bowel movements; yellowing of the skin or eyes.
Naltrexone is an opiate antagonist. There are no significant side effects except for the fact that is used to be popular in the ER when it was found one could obtain prolonged erections. The reason is that the substances which cause the blood vessels to dilate are blocked, retaining blood within the penis. The onlt side effects occur when you are on an opiate and experience withdrawal when taking naltrexane.
Not knowing you, we really can't offer a suggestion here on whether you should stop. What are the symptoms you're having?
