signs of meth use?

My 50 year old son lives with me. The past week he has exibited some bizzare and frightening behavior. I need to know what symptoms indicate meth use.
He is paronoid, verbally abusive, can't sleep or eat, continuely bringingup the past and what I did wrong, has not threatened me with harm but is trashing other peoples belongings. Any advise or suggeationd will be most helpful.
What should I do to help him?

It seems to be methamphetamine. He has abused other drugs before and I am being told he has used meth in the past. I have not been around him when he was doing this before. Now he is living in my home and I want to help him. He can't or won't listen to anyone. So far, no violence but it feels like he might get violent.
I will try to let you know what happens

Sounds just like meth to me............and I have seen it. In Cal there is so much available that it almost takes physical removal from the situation to make it work. If he wont agree to join you at the hip for several weeks it may well take some sort of inpatient. Meth is tough. The actual physical affects dont last that long - no physical abstinence syndrome like narcotics (flu sickness) - but the mental game will drive him to relapse. It has strong cravings and triggers more resembling crack cocaine.  This will be a labor intensive and dificult project.........but I would do anything to save my son. And at 50 his heart isnt going to make it a long time............ or he will stop eating enought to start a domino of physical problems that will end in his death....miserably....

Sounds like meth to me.  I used to do it years ago and I was up days at a time, very paranoid and always doing something with my mouth (grinding teeth, chewing lip, etc). talking alot, weight loss and when I did sleep it would be for a day or two.

Hi Jerrie,
Has your son had a history of drug abuse?
Is Meth "speed" or Methadone?
both my brothers drug of choice was (is) Speed.
The first sign was always weight loss, rapid speech, hyper-active, cleanching of teeth.
LATER it was paranoia & the rest of the syptoms your son is exibiting.
Everyone is different on drugs.
Can you help me out?
