I am addicted to tramadol, forced to quit cold turkey, what can i expect?

Go to the thread that refers to information for newbies- GA Guy has all the information you need there.  Use some of it, all of it, whatever works for you- today is day 5 for me and so far so good.

Thanks for your help. When you mentioned RLS do you mean restless leg syndrome? I already have that am taking Klonopin 6mg per night never more.

Thank you for your info. How do I get Ga Guy's site I am brand new on here as of last night? You said you have been clean for 15 days,what were you on and for how long? Yes  you are correct 30 pills per day. I am quitting bcause my doc will not prescribe them anymore.Like you I would  take them first thing in the am. Today is day one and  so far so good.

It will be rough but you will be ok..... You are going to have aches pains ,the runs ,you wont be able to sleep,you may have RLS and panic attacks ... With tram it last 3to 5 days .There may be depression as well...As soon as you can get out and exercise it will really help speed up the hole process...

Glad your deciding to quit. Hang on to your hat cold turkey is no fun, but you can do it. You can go to Ga Guy site and he will tell you what to expect and a few things that will help. I am 15 days clean and let me tell you, Life is sooo much better not having to worry about those dam pills. I hope you have some support, family, friends someone to maybe help you for a few days. Pretent you have a very bad flu (because that's what it will feel like anyway). You must get in your mind that detox is your priority. You might not want to attend any functions, work, familly, friends get togethers for about 5 days. Just use the flu thing as cover for people you can't tell. Keep reading on this site. It helped me get thru. Hang in there and go for it ! Be nice to yourself.

I was on tramadol for migraines for only a short time...and i took less than the dose i was prescribed.I was prescribed to take 8 50mg tabs a day but only took 4.It went on for almost a year.And I got tired of taking them one day and I quit. Believe it or not even though I only took 4 a day I still withdrawled. My main problem was I could not sleep for nothing and I felt really anxious.I was used to taking them as soon as I woke up in the morning so that was the most difficult time for me. I felt I couldn't start my day without those two little pills. I had body aches,my nose was running like I had a severe cold...I had night sweats and goosebumps at the same time also.

If I read your post correctly you take 30 pills a day? I'm not sure how you will withdrawal but it may be worse than mine was because of the excessive amount you are taking.

If I may ask is there a reason you're forced to go off cold turkey or is it just a personal decision to quit? Whatever the reason I really do wish you luck it is hard was a bit hard for me to do but you can do it....Good Luck to you and keep us posted!

i myself have been on it for 2 years, i take  30 50mg tabs per day, i quit c/t  tommorrow. what wll my 1st symptoms, i am not switching over to any other  drug so hopefully i won't seizure i don't have insurance.

i was on the tramadol for about 2 years.  i only went through wd from it for 3-4 days because i was in the hospital after my seizure (caused by the tramadol) and they simply switched me over to vicodin because i still have chronic pain that had to be dealt with.  i wish i would have just fessed up then and gotten help to deal with my opiate addiction.  because that is what the tramadol addiction really is.  i was so surprised to find out that tramadol acted as an opiate in my body.  the reason my doc and i chose it was because it was supposedly non-narcotic and relatively harmless.  but that simply isn't true.  tramadol is bad, really bad.  i had my seizure six months ago and i still don't feel right.

i was also addicted to tramadol.  i had to quit cold turkey because the stuff caused me to have a gran maul seizure.  it was awful.  i am in wd from hydrocodone now (day 4) and the tramadol was just as bad as this.  tons of anxiety, can't be still for a moment, my legs especially are in overdrive, stomach cramps, diarhea, some vomiting (just twice), and i've never felt such a strong craving in my life.  i don't know if i can do this.  i hope you can.  god bless.
