smell

Ami I the only person that has noticed a strange smell as I have gone cold turkey this last two days.  It's a sort of sweet smell, one I have only ever smelt last time I gave up.  I used to take 90 x 30mg of codiene a day, prescribed by the doctor, and now I've gone cold turkey and it's awful, but the smell is really bugging me too.

No, you arent the only one who has noticed a strange smell.  Many of us have experienced this.  It's almost a tinny sweet smell.....It was annoying actually!!

That smell also showed up in the way my mouth tasted to me too. That smell is what has led to my addiction of Altoids. Smell is gone. Altoids are still with me. Go figure huh.

The smell thing is what I hate most about withdrawals. Right when the weird smell kicks that's when I know I am starting withdrawals. At the height of my addiction I would get that smell 5-6 hours after using pills and go into WD's.

Funny story I guess, I had bought this jacket one winter and everytime I put it on when I didn't have pills, it was the weirdest most nastiest smell in the world, no one else could smell it but me. It was brand new too.

The weird sense of smell comes and goes randomly even a month or 2 after stopping for me.

What do the altoids do for the smell?

Your post caught my attention - I have 26 days clean and I never noticed a smell. But I remember a friend of mine who said when he came off of methadone, he would smell rotting meat UGH He said it was sickening so much so that he couldnt even stand the sight of any meat!!  So I guess,  umm... I know withdrawals are pure Hell, but be thankful its not a rotten meat smell anyway eh?? Hang in there, I know its hard, done it hundreds of times!
