smoking and withdrawl(withdrawal)

I am a heavy smoker.  Or I have started to be one over the last two years, which is when I have been taking hydrocodone.  I have gone CT for  3 days now, and I tried to smoke last night, thinking it might help to calm me down, and it just made me so sick.  I have had maybe 0.5 cigs over the last three days, compared to 1 pack a day!  I mean, I'm glad, but was just wondering if this is happening to anyone else?  It sure has been hard to hide my smoking from my kids, so stopping sure would be nice!

I haven't been smoking nearly as much either. I'm on day 4, and I'm smoking 5-10 a day. That's down from nearly 2 packs a day. I'm kind of thinking I might just quit. It can't be any more difficult than this has been, and how nice would it be to finally be free of ALL of the drugs?!

I quit smoking during my 1st day of morphine w/d. I had bought some patches because I knew opiate w/d was gonna be so bad I wouldn't want to smoke. Anyway, I put on a patch and wore it until 11 pm but insomnia was kicking in (I was now at 30 hours since last dose of morphine). So I threw out the patch and have been nicotine-free ever since! This was 3 Tuesdays ago.

The first few days of no nicotine were easy because I was suffering through full blow narc w/d. After that, I used whyquit.com to support me - it's an awesome resource for cold turkey quitters. I know I'm not out of the woods and never really will be, but it feels so good to breathe again, smell again, etc.

I have definitaly have found myself smoking way less than I was.  It tastes like **** and makes me feel worse so your not alone.  I'm praying for you, seems as though your doing really well.

Well, that's something to look forward to.  My smoking went way up when I started on Vicodin.  It will be nice to go back to smoking only a couple of cigarettes a day, rather than a pack a day.

I dont know about the smoking, but, I just wanted to say congrats on your 3 days and ask how you are feeling???  I think that you are doing awesome and just wanted to let you know.. GO GIRL!!!! Huggs, G

Well, horrible, its hell.  I thought in the middle of the night, I was going to have to go to the ER.  The stomach pain was unbearable.  But today it seems better.  I just keep reading and typing, and befroe you know it, its 2 hours later, and 2 hours is a long time in WD time :) Thanks for asking about me!

Geez, your telling me. C/T is hard as hell.  When I did it, I kept watching the clock and 5 min would seem like 30.  All I did was look forward to going to bed at like 7.  Keep up the fight I think you are doing great.. Huggs, G

I ALSO WAS A HEAVY SMOKER I HAVE TRIDE SOME MANY TIMES TO QUIT TAPER DOWN THE LIGHTS THE ULTRA LIGHTS ETC BUT NOTHING WORKED NOT EVEN THE PPATCHES THEN I TOLD MY DOCTOR THAT I SMOKED (I HAD TO I WAS GETTING SURGERY)I WEIGHED 321 POUNDS SMOKED DRINKED SOMETIME A LINE OR THREE. SO ONE MONTH BEFORE THE SURGERY I KNEW I HAD TO QUIT EVERYTHING SO DOCTOR GAVE ME ZABAN I TOOK IT FOR ONLY 3 DAYS AND I HAVE BEEN CLEAN FOR 6 YAERS AND I LOST 156 POUNDS BUT AFTER LOSING THE WEIGHT I STARTED TO GET VERY BAD BACK AND LEG PAIN SO BAD I COULDNT BATHE DRESS OR EVEN DO HOUSE WORK SO I TOLD DOCTOR EVERYTHING AND HE PUT ME ON TYLENOL #4's AND OXYCONTIN 20MGs NOW A NEW ADDITION DOCTORR GGIVES ME SCRIPT EVERY MONTH FOR 90 AND 60 AND I RUN OUT ABOUT 1 TO 1 1/2 WEEKS BEFORE AND I PICK SOME UP FROM THE STREET HUSBAND KNOWS I TAKE MEDS BUT DOESNT KNOW HOW MANY AND WHEN MY DAUGHTER KNOWS I TAKE MEDS ALSO BUT THE SAME AS HUSBAND THE ONLY 1 THAT KNOWS HOW MUCH IS MOM SHE HELPS ME WHEN SHE CAN WITH A FEW HERE AND THERE. I DONT WANT TO GO CT I SEEN WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE  I WAS HOPING SOMEONE CAN GIVE ADVICE WISHING EVERYONE GOOD HEALTH AND WELL BEING
