smoking oxycontin

i have been smoking anywhere from two to four 80 mg oc's a day, for the past 4 or 5 months. i am trying very hard to stop using this but it is the most difficult addiction i have had to overcome. does anyone have any advice for me because smoking seems to be much more addictive than taking it orally or snorting it. withdrawls seem to begin very quickly, within 8 hrs i begin to get cold sweats and chills. i havent gone much longer than that because i dread withdrawals. any advice would be much appreciated.

.smoking is comparable to snorting in action..if not a bit worse..so harder to quit than oral use as it hits u faster causing an overload of endorphin release that ur brain has now compensated for,,when u take it away it will hurt..a user who chews, snorts, smokes, shoots up and in that order will have more trouble than a person who swallows pills..also someone who take 2 pills 5 x a day will have an easier time as a rule than a user who takes 5 pills twice a day due to this overload on the brain and receptors...but it is all doable and if u continue to fail at quitting,,,perhaps tapering without chewing snorting or smoking could help..hard to taper for many...have u tried aftercare?  what was ur total mg intake per day?

hi dub, and welcome to the forum..a very wise man once said " you will get clean when your desire to get clean is stronger than your desire to be high".  in other words if you want to be clean you have to be willing to suffer the pain of w/ds.  it hurts like heck.  but, it does pass...i did about the same amount of oxy per day, but snorted it.  i went c/t, and in about 20 days i will have 1 year clean.  i wont lie for about 5 days i wanted to die..and had to work...i quiton a thursday morning worked on friday wasoff on st and sun and back at work on mon.  after about 5 days i was not done with w/ds but i did at least think i would live.  you can do this, but not unless you are willing to suck it up and suffer the concequences of smoking oxy for 4-5 months.  how badly do you want it.  you have to start with ending all relationships with the contacts you get from, legal or not.  and all friends you use with.  there are sacrifices, but they are well worth the end results.  BEING CLEAN AND SOBER.  in the health pages to the right of this page you will find a link,there is the thomas recipe and the amino protocolls..both help alot with the w/d symptoms, but nothing will take them completely away...so are you willing to do the work...we are here to support you...good luck  if i can help you feel free to pm me.

I smoke them too at least 3 a day. I found out today, when I went to the doctor for something else that I had severe bronchitis and I am still considering smoking over snorting. I saw a show about opiates on the history channel and it said when they first started using opiates in America it took them years to find out that what withdrawls were and than people were really having them but when they did figure it out they thought it was only caused by smoking it. I used to snort too, tgats how i started. I believe the withdrawls are much worse this way and i am usually a very strong willed person bit this is the hardest thing ive ever had to deel with. So dont feel bad and take your time getting over it but get help and quit its the only way out. Just immagine what it would be like to be on these ******* things your whole life and it will help. At least quit smoking. Thats my goal for now. I don't think addiction is mostly in your mind because I know what it's like to hurt from these things but it has alot to do with habit and ritual. I have been smoking 80s for 2 years now...I feel like i want advice to stop but I just see myself relapsing.  I wouldnt do them any other way eoter..even if I were sick.  I thimk im addicted to the act of smoking pills just as much as im addicted to the pills if not more.

Ask your doctor to get you on subutex. No withdrawls! For a while I quit and was on subutex. I broke two vertabraes and still being on a low dose of subutex I GOT ON OXY AGAIN. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS NO WITHDRAWLS. You can take oxy for a week and stop for a week with no effects.

I just witnessed my girl smoking a powder off tin foil..she told me it was oxycontin, and she doesnt do it all the time. She has some wierd tendencies and I think she is still doing them...What are the most unique signs of someone high on oxy's?

is methadone good for trying to quit oxycottin??.so my question is methadone good for your body while trying to get of oxycottin and is it a opite??

It is a opiate and a very strong one. You will have to taper off of the methadone unless you plan to stay on it for life. Many people would recommend tapering off the oxycontin. In a way you would be just switching one addiction for another. Don't get me wrong, methadone is a great tool for some people. If you decide to use it and then get off of it later, you will have intense withdrawals that will last longer than oxy withdrawals would last because of its long half life. Just be sure to do plenty of research. I'm sure someone else will come along and help you out more. It may be right for you but I just wanted to let you know that you will have big time withdrawals from it if you ever decide to quit taking it. Like I said, just do your research, weigh the pro's and con's and then you can make the best educated decision.

For any addicts out there that wanna quit. I used to smoke 4-6 oc 80s a day or what ever i could get my hands on. When I realized that it was taking over my life as well as my friends one of us had to start the ball rolling so ir might as well be me. Anyways what I did was give my phone away to a good friend told him not to give it back no matter what then I went to live in away from the firends i was doing it with all the time (my parents). Its only the first few days that you will be in pain after uve got past that then u just gotta stick it out till you think your good to go. It is only day 6 and i feel like ive beat the the addiction.

Hi my name is zac I have been smoking oxy for about 5 years now I've quit about a million times well actually when ever I run out of money I say I'm qutting but then as soon as I get more money I say ok just one by the time I'm on the phone with my dealer one turns into as many as I can. I have ruined everything good in my life on this drug all my best friends which I might add some of them I've known for 20 years I have ruined my love life and my credit is so screwed I need to go bankrupt just to get low income houseing. But what I must say is smoking them is the worst most people that do it are addicting to the smoking it on foil as the getting high part I'm quiting again right now actual. I recently moved to florida to get away from it but it ***** all and all in the end so yea. Good luck everyone hopefully to me to and the best thing for sleeping is melatonin its all natural and with work for about half the people out there but for the first three weeks expect to get about a days worth of sleep but in the end its all worth it. I know when your high f it but if your smoking it one day everything around you will be gone and it *****.

hi welcome to the forum....I would be really careful with ibogain thats really controversial
if done wrong it can kill you if done right it like a bad L.S.D trip we have had others bring it up b/4 we dont recommend it....getting off narcotics is ez just 4 or 5 days of the flu like symptoms its staying off that takes all the work...if you need help go to the top of this page there is a green box marked post a question hit it and start a new thread this one is old that your on....we can help you do a safe home detox that cost next to nothing dont stay strung out because of fear of withdrawals or lack of money where here to help

HI, I am quitting oxy as well. I have been smoking it for about 4 months now and before that I railed it for about 2 monts.. I do an 80 or 2 a day if I can get it. I just told my family that I was using because I knew that I had to do that in order to actually quit. I have had slight w/ds before but nothing to serious because I havent been more then a day without it since chirstmas. I know the next 3-10 days will be hell for me but its worth it plus I put this pain on myself... its the price im going to have to pay for not being as stong willed as I usually am. I was thinking of going on methadone but I would rather do it cold turkey. I have alot of support from my mom, friends.. and my bf. I decided it was time to quit because I just enrollled myself in school and paid the first semester fees, and after seeing how much money I had to pay Im not willing to let this drug force me out of school for any reason. I will not let this drug ruin my future.

as for ideas on how to quit you could try methadone. its a very strong drug  but it will make the w/ds go away and it will cause your cravings for ox to lower. there are also a few other medications that you can go on that do pretty much the samr job as metherdon. these drugs also will make it so you wont be able to get high if you do opiats..but methadone is very addictive as well. I would recomend just having a few days in bed and make sure you have people that support and love you around to talk to when you get an urge to get high or start feeeling terrible. i wish you the best of luck and ill keep you posted on how ive been managing with quitting myself.. feel free to email me at april_gage***@**** if you want to talk at all Il like to hear from someone going through the same thing!!!... best of luck to yaa
