Today is day 6 wthout oxyc. Started 6 years ago, doctor put me on for RA and fibromyalgia. Got out of hand. TDoc wats me to take lyrica, neurontin plaquinol, no more opiates. I"m taking pure codein pills, 2 60mg when WD symtoms (symptoms) start. I'm very sore, my feet and back are killing me. I'm not taking to end the pain or to feel normal, just to help with wd, . Tried to stop oxy tapering down to 1 10mg on last day, without the codein, could not do it, always got back on oxy. This time I have codein and no real wd, yes, tired, sore, stomach pain, but the cuills, watery eyes, restless leg, etc, etc, are not happening. I really think codein is not nearly as hard to taper down because if I take too much I get all red, hot and super itchy I cn't live in the oxy prison anymore, always ran out before refill date. I don't want anymore, just the codein untill I can take the minimum. What do u all think? Please help.

I usually don't go for substituting one narcotic for another to get off but in this case it could work, if you don't stay on the codeine too long and the dose is low.

I understand, but right now is the only way to stay away from oxy. I'm a mother, can't afford to be sick in bed. Like I said, too much codein makes me all red hot itchy. But i know that builds tolerance. Got to be careful....very careful. Thank u 4 answer.

Ok I understand that kicking oxy is too rough . Now you are probably dependent on codeine and switched addictions to a weaker drug so you should be able to kick cold from that. it should work

if u came on to the forum and said "I am going on sub for detox".. no one would say nuttin bad about it other than to warn u to be safe..and it is a much stronger narcotic than codeine is..so guess if it is helping u kick the oxy then more power to ya!  course just like with sub..be careful as u r still on a narcotic and quitting without any narcotic is always best..but sometimes not realistic for everyone...as long as u have a plan and u r sticking to it, and in the end u plan to be narcotic free as it sounds like that is ur goal, then more power to u...have u looked thru the health pages as lots of good info there...meetings help so much and exercise as well to get those endorphins pumpin.. .keep us updated and keep posting

Thank you so much for writing back, had I known about the site b4.....Well, guess this is the right time since I'm really ready. It was very hard to go down to the last 20mg, specially control the taper down. Isaw in the health pages that codein is indeed lower in the awful drugs scale, Yes it is not realistic to stop high doses of oxyc wthout anything to relief WD, for me Itried many times only to suffer for 3 days, and go back, like many I can't afford not to function, right now, I'm doing what I can, my husband is supportive but can't do everything. I red enough about sub, thank God( without him, I couldn't do it) the codein is helping but if goldenarm only has acces to sub....try to go down on sub if u can. Also the health pages have the amino acid protocol, thomas recp, I will start tomorrow, amino acids to help the brain to rewind itself. Like I said, the health pages have codein before last, the last one is darvacet, So maybe   other people might benefit from it. Look on health pages. Thank u worried878, my plan is working, the doors of hte prison will soon be wide open
