stop using methadone

hello, my step son has been on methadone for a year atleast a year he is on 240 mg. he got locked up and says he is not getting medicated.what can happen if he is not getting medicated. we also found out that he was taking zanix and doing crack. to relieve his mother she is wondering what can happen if he isn't gettting medicated. ty

HI and welcome to the forum ...wow 240ml thats high ...well he wont die from it
but he will probably wish he could thats going to be prity ruff to cold turkey from
but here in arizona they dont allow it in the prisons...our church has an outreach
into the prisons and have seen many coming off methadone b/4 its not pritty
but its doable ...this may be just what he needs to get sober many people get strait
in jail he can go to 12 step programs there that will help him out you may suggest
that to him...as for the zanex it really depends on how much he was doing if only accasanly it wont be a problem but if his use is chronic he needs to let the medical staff know right away to avoid sezers you need to taper off benzo's slowly...look on the bright side he cant get crack in jail so it will help him get off that to
