is your friend still on it? if he is, i hope he realizes that he is not over the addiction and is still taking opiates.
i had a friend that was on it for like a year and a half and said it was worse than coming off the pills. he was a reformed alcoholic for about 10 years and went back to drinking heavily to get through the withdrawl. he is finally clean of everything now, but due to his drinking again is facing time in jail soon.
but he will tell you, like so many others "whatever it takes"  " i am just glad to be free"

Great words of advice, my friend..

I work with a guy that has been on Suboxone for two years, and he is also in school to get his license to become an addiction specialist after defeating an eight year addiction to heroin and a few other hardcore drugs. Is this normal that anyone knows of? After reading a lot of the posts here on the forums, it sounds like a lot of people don't stay on this medication for years and years... He continues to talk to me and tells me that the WD from Suboxone isn't as bad as what some people say it is, even though not every two people are the same in their recovery. Like you, I've never taken this drug because I went off my DOC completely CT and without the assistance of my PCP and/or any other medications. But this is something that I've wondered about since my co-worker came to me and talked with me about this.

i personally never have taken it. but the best sucess i have heard is a plan that gets you off it in less than a month. it would be wise to do your homework on this drug and research it fully. is your doctor very experienced with perscribing it and how long, how many patients? what is the sucess rate for his patients coming off of it?  these are all reasonable questions to ask your doctor. it is also very important to be completely honest on all of your symptoms and doses that you are taking. even if you do not follow his directions. tell him.

I agree with IBKleen on this post. The best form of advice that any member here can give to you at this point would be to consult your PCP [or prescribing doctor] and inquire with them about this. Everyone is different, but you and your doctor have hopefully established some sort of relationship together, and this will assist you better than you might think. Best of luck to you, and please continue to post here on the forums if there's anything else we can assist you with. That is what we are all here for right now.

You will need to discuss that with your prescribing physician.
