i have been reading all the posts and sounds like so many are taking sub in high doses. I was taking 3-5 30mg oxycodones a day and my dr. told me to start with 1/2 of a 2mg sub, and increase it to another half every two hours as needed. Today was my first day of sub therapy and it went pretty well. i only took 2mg, 1/2 in afternoon, and 1/2 in eve when i felt mild wds.. I don't feel 100 percent normal, but nothing that i can't handle. I hope i can stay at this dosage and then get off this sub as quick as possible. I really want to take it for no longer than 7 days, especially after reading all this stuff on detoxing from sub! what a nightmare. The purpose of sub was to relieve wd's. Once that is done i hope that i will stay off everything, but with therapy of course....i deal with sick people and honestly think i take dugs to numb them out, but thats another story....we shall see. I am just confused on why my dr gave me such a low dose and its working after i was taking such a large dse of oxys for so long. I guess thats a good thing. I do feel foggy, dizzy and alittle off but I think that is becaus my brain is now receiving the new drug. How long will the sub stay in my system after i stop....does anyone know? i heard the after life of each pill is like 48 hrs or so..

I must agree with uphill and mr.lucky on their assessment.  I am still in a fog after 20 days being off of Sub and I jumped from a crumb after the 21 day taper -----  A very wicked drug that deceives because it does work initially but oh the pain when you try to stop it.  Taper fast and be prepared to go through what the doctor called "The Suboxone Spanking" at the end.    It is so worth it no matter what you use to get clean though.  Best thing I ever did.  Just be prepared.  All the best.

I AGREE. THIS DRUG IS OVERUSED AND OVER RATED. IT BETTER TO BE TAKEN FO A WEEK OR SO FOR ACUTE DETOX. OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE GASOLINE ON A FIRE.

Sub will stay in your system for about 70 hours. I did sub treatment, and started at a very high dose 16mgs/day from about the same amount of oxy you were using. I regret it a lot. I am totally clean now and look at 8 months of high dose sub as replacing one opiate for another.

Your doctor's approach sounds like a very smart one. And the therapy will be essential. I did all my therapy while on high doses of Sub and once I quit the Sub, I realized that doing therapy while high on Sub doesn't accomplish much.
