Is it possible for one to take suboxone for just a few days to get "through the withdraws" from hydrocodone abuse, like 300mg a day use.? any one have any ideas. I was thinking of talking about 1 8 mg sub in the morning first day(after 24 hours of with drawl) and 4 mg in the morning  and 4 at nigh for the next day then 4 mg in the morning and 2 mg at night then then just stopping all together? so a total of 3 days of suboxone to get through the worst of the withdrawals.

I have been on 2 -8mg strips a day for almost 6months then lost my insurance..  Now its been a week and im still in severe withdrawls....  I never got weened down...  How long till the withdrawl symptoms go away.

I have had several very serious stints with heroin. The worst being when I live in VietNam for 2 year and was on the best dope in the world for a year and a half. I detoxed for about 25 days using valium, weed and booze. I slept for maybe 1 hour total in those 25days. Lately, I started using h again. This time in the U.S. Black tar. I used for a couple of months and found suboxone. I have taken it for 7 days. I stopped it and went into serious dt's 3 days later. I have been taking crumbs everyday to stop the dt's. I am quitting the sub again as I took about .4mg yesterday morning. I am okay at the moment, but I know that the check is in the mail. I have some clonodine and xanax and weed. I should be fine. Gotta go through hell before you get to heaven as they say.

that 100 patient may be true where you live but not here , there aloud 100 new patients per month no limit on the maintanace

i agree wit GA GUY..we should not tell people how long they should or shouldnt be on sub..believe it or not but doctors DO have a little sense and they all are not out to get you..just talk with ur doctor and let him help you decide what route to take..My oppinion is that suboxone has leterally saved my life!!!

I was prescribed suboxone 2mg. tabs 4 times a day. This is after many yrs. of opiate abuse. I have been through WD before, but that black tar was the worst. Suboxone worked well for me after about 2-3 weeks. If I were you I would split the 8mg Sub into four pieces and try and hold out as long as possible.  Suboxone worked very well for me but I think I will always still crave opiates. A day at a time I guess. Good Luck!

hyey  for being on that amount i take anywher between 32-48 norcos a day with a few ocs or roxies a day and when i quite i had to start off staking 3 subs a day for few days than go down from there so im guessing if u just eat one tht first day and half the next ur gona be going thru sum heavy w/ds so i say try doing it for like at least hardcore the rite way for a week untill the heavy w/ds are gone tht u mite have beter chance with. good luck. let me kno how ya did it?

The length of time someone stays on Sub should be between them and their doctor. And actually, doctors make more from people who do short tapers because of the fact that they can only have 100 patients at a time and could charge them first visit evaluation fees. Besides, it's all just semantics. We shouldn't tell people just to take something for a length of time just as we wouldn't tell someone not to do a full course of chemo for cancer. It's a personal decision between a patient and their doctor.

doctors dont make money when you get off so dont believe that **** about you need to be on a long time , i wouldnt go more then one month if that . try the 21 day plan on right

i would take it for a few months..The doctor told me in order to get long term results you need long term treatment..Alot of people say NOOOO dont do it for that long!! But if you take it right and follow the doctors plan to a T then you will be fine

It might help a little bit but you are still going to feel pretty bad with a 300mg/day habit. I just used sub for 4 days from an 80mg/day oxy habit and I was completely miserable for about 5 days.
