I went for my 1 week visit for my suboxone treatment and did get some myths cleared up. Not every doctor runs their program the same.my doc won't even think about wheaning you off sub until you fix all the things in your life that your addiction destroyed.what's the point of getting treatment to keep the same life that got you using in the first place. Secondly he believes in very slow tapering, like 1 mg every few weeks and its no rush, let's say you get stuck between 1mg and 0, would it really be that bad to take a half of a pill a day to keep you clean from using or never having to go through horrible w/d again. But the good news is people get off sub with great success. And its working great for me

I think you have a point. it wouldnt be the end of the world just to stay on it at a very low dose i guess as long as you dont abuse it. Its kind of like antdepressants. I was off and on, off an on, off and on. I finally decided with my dr just to stay on, at a low dose. I think staying on sub for a long time even forever at a low dose would definatly be better than eventually going back to the pain pills. especially people with real chronic pain. Sub is a pain med.

so have you been on sub for 1 week? or was this your weekly checkup after a longer period of time? I too am on sub it will be 1 week on Monday, i too have my check up on Monday. Buti tell you, it's great to hear someone talk positively about sub. I know it helps, it's been helping me, but i am so scared of wd from it. I heard the longer your on it the worse the wd are. This is where i get confused and don't know what to do. I think i am going to taper off sub and get lot of therapy and go to groups to keep me away from oxy or vicodin...because i really want to be pill free! But i am going to discuss all of this with my dr. on Monday i can't wait to clear up some things with her. My doc also believes in sloowwww tapering, 1 mg a week? will that work, i know teh after life of sub is really long like 36 hours or something... How many mg of sub are you taking and how many times aday? what was your DOC
