Ringing of the ears is an acyual side effect of the Prednisone as well. I get it when I swallow down too many Goody Powders!

I have also heard that prolonged use/abuse of opiates can cause some hearing loss...especially related to oxycontin.  has anyone else heard of this?  i do have some hearing loss, unusual for someone my age...but it also runs in my family on my mothers side. my grandmother and mother have both had to start wearing hearing aids at quite a young age....

I get it sometimes too, but have my entire life, just sporadically though.

I used to do medical transcription, for ENT's mostly - and I can tell you that tinnitus and dizziness are the 2 top mysterious conditions to find a cause for by ENT doctors because there can be SOOOO many different things causing it! Hopefully the prednisone will stop it for ya and it wont come back!

The quieter the room the more I am aware of the ringing. Totally drives me crazy. I have to have  Everybody is different. Good point about loud noises. It can cause damage that can show up even years later.

Rash Lintbomb was someone I listened to too. A long time ago.

Have you been subjected to any unusually loud noise, or visited concerts/clubs etc.?

Recent research show that 90percent of people attending such venues already have starting symptoms of damage to the ears..

I suffer from sporadic outbursts of tinnitus aswell due to rehearsing with a band, not wearing earplugs in a small space..

It's also been linked to high bloodpressure issues,  might wanna have that checked out?

Placing yourself in a neutral space (no bright lights/loud noise) works for me..

Cheers,

I read an interview with Rush Lintball the other day. he was asked if he ever reaches out to help other addicts. He said he has tried to, but his use was for pain and he could not relate to other types of addicts. What a ****** bag. He said he at least donates money.

I thought Rush Limbaugh's ear difficulties stem from a massive brain defect.....Megalo-mania I think they call it.......lol

I've had it for several years...brought on, I believe by overuse of benedryl that I used to take almost every night for sleep, and then my overuse of opiates.  They can cause ear damage (Rush Limbaugh's ear difficulties stem from his massive abuse of oxy).  i've never heard of prednizone helping but then I haven't seen an ENT specialist about it either..just learned to live with it.

Oh God Yes! It is awful. Some days it can be so loud I can hear it over a loud movie. (My surround is nice) I try to ignore it, yeah right.

How do you deal with it...has it caused depression? It just came on to me last sunday...never had problems before. I'm on prednisone now, for it....I've heard it can be caused by many different things...may go away...may be relieved if the cause is uncovered....may never go away...damn, it depresses me....I wouldn't want to live like this forever....

Yes, I have heard many people complain of this.  I have heard it can be permanent, but most of the time will pass with time.  I feel for you......that has to drive you nuts.  It would me.......I hope it stops soon.
