Tapering really is hard and i had to give my pils to a friend in order to do it...i would have done ct but had to work and wait for my time off.....i agree,,,ct is the way to go for most at your dose...slow tapers can cause people to lose motivation along the way...u gotta a plan and that is the main thing

Thank you for being there for me. I can't seem to tapper off. Yes I looked up the Thomas recipe, I can get everything except the Valium, I don't want to got to the DR. I have had enough of them. People tell me I can order the Valium online without a rx. I don't know how to to and if it's safe to do this. It helps talking to people who have been where I am. Finding out that people have taking more than 2 -7.5 pills 4 times a day. for 2 years and have beat this really helps me, I almost feel like a baby and shouldn't be complaining after what I hear what everybody has been taking. And has kicked this. Thank you for your support. I'm sure I'l be talking to you many times.

I quickly taper from 80mg daily, by cutting the dose in half every day. 40,20,10, then quit. You will have several bad days, more than likely, whatever your approach. But after a week, you'll get better daily. I think a slower taper would be easier, but I was sick to death of them. Good luck. You can do this.
Thanks for your thoughts,
Yes I have a great partner that supports me through all of this I have had 18 surgerys and she has been there with me for all of them. We are both nurses and I told her the day would come that I would have trouble getting off of pain killers. Here I am. Thank you for being there for me. I'm sure I will be talking to a lot next week if you can stand it. You hit the nail on the head when you said I want to get my life back. I don't even remember the last time I had that.
Thank you again for being there.
Good luck to you and U sound like u have a plan...going cold turkey from a dose as low as yours is sometimes easier than tapering...tapering takes alot of discipline but u would be ok either way...would be easier 4 u if u do take a little less each day til u quit....lack of energy has been my main problem and unfortunately persists for a while but does get better with time......the thomas recipe helps...tyrosine helps alot with energy as well as taurine...energy drinks like red bull or rocket shots can help as well....be sure u get a good B multi....my doc recmmended Big 50 by gnc..a multi, the aminos recommended, a cal mag supp at night....good luck...lots of support here and keep posting
Try looking up the Thomas Recipe on the health pages to the right...a lot of people swear by it...
Sounds great but last weekend when I had no pills, I bearly had enough energy to get off the couch and go to the bathroom. I hate feeling this way. Any tips on drinks or anything to help me get get past this. Sun. I will be stopping cold turkey. I would rather deal with my back pain that stay on the pills even though pills make me feel better in all ways, I have gotten to depend on them from am to pm.
welcome...It is great that you want to get your life back..If you can take a week off of work that is great..Do u have any support? spouse?
we are all here to help you..

Maybe swimming or just exercising would help. I've found out that if I keep busy, I don't notice the w/d effects as much. Just be careful not to overdo it and make your back worse. I think a little light exercise helps me out...good luck..cat
I want to stop them altogether. The pain I have in my back is not bad enough to need the pills. I just made myself think I needed them for the pain. I can take a week off of work to do this, what should I get in to make this better? Thank you catmagnet for caring.
It is true. Either way, tapering or cold turkey works.
1 pill at a time is to keep a more even blood serum level. 2 or more 'spikes' that level. It is the spike that the body craves. It still craves but it will get used to a smaller amount. Taper off of this bottle and then quit. Withdrawals are like a bad flu for 5-7 days. Sometime less, sometimes more but not usually on vics.
Some people do better going cold turkey, some with tapering. I've been on an extremely slow taper but I was taking about twice what you're taking, so I still think I'm doing pretty good. Do you want to stop them altogether or just slow down to the prescribed amount?
Thank you for getting back to me so fast. I have never been through this before. I ran out of pills last weekend and I thought I would jump out of my skin and did not sleep for 2 days. When My Dr. gave me an Rx. on Mon. I knew I had to get off this med. The weekend without meds opened my eyes.I will cut back to only 1 pill at a time. Anything you can tell me will be very helpfull.Thank you again.
First stop taking 2 at a time. cut back to 4-5 pills a day and reduce. that will help some and maybe put off withdrawals until next weekend or at least end of the week. Look at the Thomas recipe for other tips. It is in the Health Pages on the right. MedHelp doesn't let you post emails on public forum. There is no real need to either. We have all been there done that and can help you through this. Keep posting. This forum becomes your lifeline when withdrawals hit. You are not on a huge dose, so it will be a bit rough but doable.
I just found out how to get back to this site, Please help in you can. Thank you
