by missylowery, Jul 20, 2007 09:32AM
My doctor has me on oxycodone ER 20 mgs 1 x daily BUT  She just prescribed it.  I had told her that I had gotten up to (9) 30 mg pills a day of the regular Oxycodone  she has had me on for 4 months now. Your advise please

Going from 270 mgs a day of oxy to 20 is going to throw you into some major withdrawals. You may want to start a taper plan now. Is it needed for chronic pain? Why did she lower the dosage so low and so quick? More information please.

Isn't oxycodone just percocet int he generic form?  Do you mean oxycontin?

I didn't think they made oxycodone stronger than 10 mg... She's saying she took 9 30 mg oxycodone pills a day.  Is that possible? Is there straight oxycodone without the tylenol? I just thought it was purely the generic form of percocet.'
I don't evenknow why I'm asking really.....

Percocet had oxycodone in it, along with acetaminophen. Oxycontin is timed release oxycodone. If you were taking 30mg pills of oxycodone, then you were taking what equals 3 percocet 10's without the acetaminophen. So, if you're going from 9-30mg pills to 1-20mg oxycontin (which releases the 20mg of oxycodone over 12 hours), then you're swapping a 270mg habit for a 20mg one. The oxycontin will give you less oxycodone in 12 hours than you were taking in one dose of 30mg 9 times a day.

I have no idea. I know my dad gets a 15mg pure oxycodone pill. It's a small yellow pill. I think she's confused on what she's taking (which scares the hell out of me). I do know that oxycontin does not come in a 30. Just 10-20-40-and 80. They used to make a 160, but it was taken off the market because people were dying from taking them.

Yes there are straight oxycodone with no APAP  they are 15mgs and 30mgs  I think... They sometimes go by roxicodone...they are non time released  They are really strong... and no tylenol..

There are the 115mg and 30mg roxi's and also Oxy IR's which are just the pure Oxycodone that's instant release instead of time released.  I think Roxicodone and Oxy IR are the same.

I meant 15. Not 115. Sorry.
