tramadol withdrawal

I have been taking tramadol for 7 years. I knew I was addicted to it because of how bad I felt when I didn't take it. I decided to come off it about 6 weeks ago and have suffered with a lot of very unpleasant symptoms. I am still suffering them now and wondering what do I do about it? How long is it going to go on? I used to take up to 1000 mg a day, and now I'm the proverbial bear with the permanent sore head. I have had enough of feeling like this, it's horrible.

Hi. I have been addicted to Tramadol for 12 years, & the only thing that has worked for me has been a self imposed discipline of skipping doses & only using 1/2 or 1 pill when it is unbarable. I had overcome this in the past, but when back to it again.

It is a nasty pill. I try cold turkey as much as I can with terrible side effects, but that is the price to pay.

I also mix other substances which makes it worse. My sin & mistake. Walking, cold showers, exercising, etc help as well.

So sorry!  I'm here!!!!!!

BIG, huge congrats on that 6 weeks.  Can you tell me exactly what is going on with you right now as far as symptoms?  I can help you more if I know.  The insomnia and anxiety and depression are the last to get better though! : )

Tramadol is a beast no doubt & well done you on making it to 6 weeks, the worst is definitely in the past, although sometimes it may not feel that way.

For those of us who were longer term users, it can take longer until you feel completely yourself again but there are things you can do to help, depending on your symptoms.

If you let us know what specific symptoms you are left with we can give some more precise advice.  You have done so well you deserve to feel better soon.

Let's get this back up top so Tramahater can see it and weigh in. I have no personal experience with Ultram/Tramadol, but she'll tell you all about it and give you some good nuggets.

Keep posting Sister, and welcome to recovery.

Tramahater can give you a clue as to how much longer the symptoms persist..So your 6 weeks away from them? Thats great..Tramadol from what I've seen is worse than your standard pain pill wd's and does last longer...Hopefully she'll spot this soon and give you an idea from her personal experience.....
