agree on the cymbalta..i was rx-ed it for fibro as well and the drug didnt agree with me...narcotics r not the doc for fibro....klonopin is for anxiety and not for pain...r u using it like a muscle relaxer? there r safer drugs out there for that..but if u have been on 1 mg for yrs u would need to taper off of that..benzos r not a safe choice for sleep as they r so very habit forming physically...anything used on a nightly basis for sleep can be habit forming tho///becoming dependent on sumpin for sleep can happen even with benadryl etc
neurontin and lyrica r the drugs used for fibro...cymbalta recently was approved...like u tho i had side effects..narcotics r not a good choice for long term pain due to tolerence...direct pain releife like anti-inflammatories, ice, heat, stretching etc r much better choices..massage can do wonders....be safe and keep posting
I have a Fentenyl patch on every 72 hours for severe neck pain, .one milligram of klonopin at bedtime that I've been taking for years (addicted)
The Dr. has prescribed an occasional Loritab for breakthrough pain but when I take this, I'm getting occasional dizziness and hurting in my stomach. Does Loritab cause this or am I just taking too much medication. I'd like to get off of the klonopin but I think I would stay awake for a week without it. I even have trouble sleeping with it. The dizziness is what is bothering me now.....but need it for the pain. Any suggestions.
I do not feel over medicated. I did try 60 cymbalta for Fibro but this made me sleepy and depressed all of the time so I quit c/t. Could this account for the dizziness? I worry about my heart as I am over 74.
Benzos are given to actually control seizures in emergency situations...so long term use of high doses can lower ur seizure threshold and make u more prone to seizres...many meds can do this..tramadol...many antidepressents have this potential as well...tramadol and valium are more often abused and taken in high doses verses ADs...so u cant really answer that...someone who takes 5-10 mg of xanax a day and just quits CT is at risk for seizures for sure as .25 mg is a dose of xanax with 1-2 mg a high dose.....valium is dosed at 5 mg and 10 mg///1 mg of xanax is alot compared to 10 mg of valium....it is all circumstantial and different in every case...i would still cut to 1/2 a pill then 1/4 of a pill then quit just to be safe
how common is a seizure when stopping the valium?
RLS(restless legs) is a common form of withdrawals. I have never heard it described as buzzing. If it just happened watch it. If it is w/d it should stop in a week or two (hopefully)
I agree that Valium needs to be tapered off of. Don not quit it cold turkey.
5 mg of valium is not really a substantial amount to be too worried about...the normal dose is 10 mg as a rule....i dont think u r in dange of seizures if u quit such a smal dose...if in fact that is all u r taking benzo wise as it is really much weaker than ativan, klonopin or xanax...lots weaker....u may want to go down to half a pill/2.5 mg for a week and jump off if u r ready to quit those..u should be ok...seizures are a big risk with higher doses of benzos...5 mg a day is just not very much and u should be ok...i think people sometimes see benzo on here and think seizure...but the dose is important here...no need to be scared is all i am saying...just do half a pill then maybe 1/4 just so u feel more psychologically comfy as well
yeh the buzzing in the feet came with the stoping of the lortab.....and decrease in the valium, the valium is taken at night for a muscle relaxant for my neck. Leslie
is the muscle relaxant......
my Dr. that prescribed it is the orthopedic doctor.....i was told last week i should get some advice from a doctor that has more experiance with this drug about getting off it..
Wow, you are taking quite a lot of different things there.
The muscle relaxer is probably what is making you feel so drugged. I could not handle taking those. They last sooooo long too. I asked the pharmacist about them and he told me that a muscle relaxer stays with you for 18 hours. So even if you take it before you go to bed, you will still be groggy the next day for some time.
The buzzing in your feet - well if it feels kind of tingly too? That is usually a sign of bad circulation. Are your hands feeling a little strange too?
Why are you taking valium at nite?
You are working on 2 addictions now. Valium and pain killers. It would be best to get rid of at least one of them.
With all the stuff you are taking, can you still see straight? hah
No don't wean the valium fast. There is a huge difference between benzo's (valium) and opiates. You can have life threatening w/d from the valium. Stick to your dose, or break it into 1/2 and take twice a day and get on the phone w/your doc about weaning you off. Be patient, someone will give you advice on a taper sched for this med.
